"<< Background >>The regulatory framework of Civic Education in Italy had recently changed (law 92/2019 came into force with AS 2020/2021), the two researcher-trainers at the origin of this project idea had been engaged for years in the development of a pedagogical approach to citizenship in a 'European and multiscale' key but, on the wave of the experimentation launched by the new law they had drawn up and begun experimenting in various Italian schools - including the two partner institutes of the future cooperation - an original global and vertical Civic Education curriculum, accompanied by teaching activities, which was designed from the outset for dissemination and adaptation from a European perspective. This initial teacher training and action-research work had been developed in the Jean Monnet project ""EUStudy"", which had AEDE as a partner and dissemination ally in France. The ID PLUS partnership arose as an opportunity for further development and in-depth experimentation of this curriculum in a transnational cooperation perspective and project design with two French institutes involved through AEDE. Consistent with this pedagogical approach, the project involved the local authorities from the outset.<< Objectives >>ID PLUS intended to give 4 school institutes new to this kind of project, between Milan (Italy) and Nice (France), access to transnational cooperation while aiming at enhancing professional skills, experimenting original approaches and developing Euro-transferable products in the specific field of European Civic Education and critical pedagogy, thanks to the synergy with a Research Centre engaged in the development and testing of an original and innovative Civic Curriculum conceived in a ""multiscale"" key (from local to global), a network of pro-EU education professionals and local authorities committed to eco-social sustainability. From the point of view of the researcher-trainers involved from the conception of the project, the aim was to test that same Curriculum in a perspective of a theoretical and practical contribution to the development of the European Education Area, with a mixed methodology of parallel action in different national school systems and of exchange and comparison among them, with a final documentation activity aimed at producing a bilingual scientific publication.<< Implementation >>After the project management kick-off meeting (May 2022), the researcher-trainers carried out the initial training of the teachers of the four institutes involved (June-September), with shared and differentiated moments (by school order, by national system) in order to foster, even beyond the hours envisaged in the project proposal, a full understanding and sharing of the pedagogical framework within which the didactic experimentation would take place. The pedagogical co-designing and didactic experimentation activities took place immediately afterwards, from autumn 2022 i.e. at the start of the school year for both the Italian and French systems, and involved teachers and classes until the end in June 2023 (with a dissemination event in La Colle). In-presence mutual observation meetings cadenced and renewed the stimuli for the experimental year: November '22 in Parabiago (with launch event), March '23 in La Colle (with dissemination event), May '23 in Parabiago and Milan (with dissemination event). Further public dissemination events took place at the conclusion of the final reflection and editing of the book (March 2024).<< Results >>The two final scientific publications, in Italian and French, are the main lasting product of the project in terms of their contribution to the academic and public debate on a national and European scale. At the local level and at the level of the individual institutes and educational communities involved, the project provided added value to the pedagogical competence in Civic Education to 24 teachers and 12 classes (approximately 250 students) in a direct way, by valorising the results of the didactic experimentation (textual and multimedia products of the students) in the community of parents and local authorities through public events attended by several hundred people. Concrete indicators of success are the Erasmus+ accreditation obtained by the Collège Klein during the project life, the development of new eTwinning initiatives by the ICS Viale Legnano, and the initiation of visit initiatives to the municipal administration in Parabiago. The model of this cooperation was also disseminated to first-cycle schools in other European countries, through a special online dissemination event, which expressed interest in joining the network to realise similar projects in their context."
