Awareness of Children's Rights in Secondary Education - Through Escape Rooms to Children's Rights

<< Objectives >>By fostering the self-development of educational professionals from six countries, we bring children's rights closer to young people both intellectually and emotionally through an innovative Escape Room method. Equipped with this knowledge, skills, and mindset, the younger generation becomes legally aware and sensitive, empowering them to actively support the core democratic values upheld by the European Union, including equal opportunities, accessibility, inclusion, and fairness.<< Implementation >>With the participation of education sector representatives, we implement activities to make the 42 thematic units of children's rights accessible and engaging for high school students through the escape room method. This innovative approach creates an interactive, game-based learning environment that challenges and immerses participants. The project is structured around an opening and closing meeting, with intermediate project meetings fostering collaboration and the testing of room experiences.<< Results >>The project's tangible outcomes include 42 thematic escape rooms focused on children's rights, supported by an English-language teacher's guide and handbook. Digital versions of the escape rooms will also be available in English, ensuring broader open access. Through these methodological tools, we introduce the framework of children's rights to key players in European education, emphasizing fundamental human values.
