How to make Erasmus+ KA1 Adult EDUcation GREENER

<< Background >>The EDUGREENER project was requested to address the need to standardise and promote sustainable practices in Erasmus+ mobilities for adult education. This responds to the lack of common methodologies to ensure environmental, economic and social sustainability in all phases of mobilities (preparation, implementation and evaluation). In addition, a lack of sustainability awareness and training among beneficiaries and organisations involved was identified.EDUGREENER addresses key Erasmus+ priorities such as green transition, social inclusion and digitalisation. The project brings together partners from Spain, Italy and Greece to foster transnational cooperation, develop useful tools and recommendations for national agencies and ensure more sustainable mobilities that serve as a model for other education sectors.<< Objectives >>The main objective of EDUGREENER was to improve the sustainability of Erasmus+ mobilities in the adult education sector. To achieve this, the project sought to identify and standardise good environmental, economic and social practices applicable at each stage of the mobilities. In addition, it aimed to raise awareness of sustainability among beneficiaries, promote transnational collaboration and provide useful tools for national agencies.EDUGREENER also hoped to create a handbook of sustainable practices that could be adopted in other sectors of the Erasmus+ programme. In implementing the project, it sought to contribute to the European objectives of green and digital transition, ensuring high quality mobilities that positively impact local communities and the wider European context<< Implementation >>EDUGREENER implemented a variety of activities to achieve its objectives. Research on good practices in sustainability applied to international mobilities was carried out, with the collection of success stories in Europe. National focus groups and co-creation workshops were also held in Spain, Italy and Greece, where experts and representatives of organisations collaborated to develop the handbook of sustainable practices.In addition, interviews were conducted with representatives of national agencies and platforms such as EPALE to develop recommendations tailored to national systems. Project management included transnational meetings, ongoing monitoring and the creation of dissemination materials, including a manual in several languages. These activities ensured a comprehensive and collaborative approach in all phases of the project.<< Results >>The concrete results of EDUGREENER include:1. The compilation of a directory of good sustainable practices applicable to Erasmus+ mobilities in adult education.2. The elaboration of a handbook of sustainable practices which is available in several languages (English, Spanish, Italian and Greek) and which serves as a guide for sending and hosting organisations.3. The generation of recommendations for national agencies, aimed at facilitating the evaluation and adoption of more sustainable mobilities.4. Increased awareness and training in sustainability among direct and indirect project participants.These results not only achieved the initial objectives of the project, but also established a basis for future sustainability initiatives within the Erasmus+ programme and beyond.
