<< Background >>Digital diplomacy is the use of new information communication technologies, the internet and social media to help achieve diplomatic goals, strengthen diplomatic relations and solve foreign policy issues. New trends in digitalization have revolutionized the nature of diplomacy by transforming the communication medium in which diplomacy is conducted. It is a necessity for governments to adapt their understanding of diplomacy to ‘the digital’. States face the challenges of rapid technological changes, requiring the development of strategies that leverage new technologies for more effective diplomacy. Digitalization has significantly impacted social and political dynamics, raising questions about how these shifts can be understood and addressed. The (mis)use of digital tools in diplomatic networking presents critical issues that demand thoughtful technological responses and solutions. Students as future policy-makers who will suffer from global problems, need to learn digital diplomacy to enhance their digital skills with an innovative approach. We aim to provide students to develop their abilities to analyze the key problems and risks of digitalisation and how diplomatic mindsets and techniques can be applied to managing them.<< Objectives >>The main objective of DD-Tech is to develop a Digital Diplomacy Module that enables students to acquire skills for conducting digital diplomacy, applying it in innovation processes, and enhancing their capacity for technological solutions. We aim to develop a digital-based curriculum for a future-oriented education model, utilizing digital education and communication tools, and training future diplomats who can understand global trends to enhance collective design capabilities and promote a culture of collaboration. The specific objectives are: 1) preparing students for higher education and adopting ICT technologies to the learning applications 2) creating interactive content that will enable curriculum updates to be developed with constantly developing new technologies 3) developing network-based learning applications to adopt new technologies to higher education 4) discovery of common cooperation opportunities in different fields 5) establishing a program with accessible features such as disabled access, physical barriers removed. With digital diplomacy teaching, we aim to provide students to develop their abilities to identify and analyze the key problems and opportunities of digitalization. << Implementation >>The DD-TECH Project implemented a comprehensive set of activities. These activities were structured around four main intellectual outputs, two multiplier events, and three learning and teaching activities, all designed to achieve the project's objectives.Multiplier Events: The project featured two significant events to disseminate outcomes and foster engagement: (1) A Mid-way Conference was organized to present preliminary results, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with project goals. (2) A Closing Event showcased the project's final outcomes, shared success stories, and explored avenues for future collaboration.Learning and Teaching Activities: Three key activities were conducted to ensure the practical implementation of the project: (1) Pilot Intensive Programmes for Students: Two pilot programs were delivered to provide hands-on learning experiences, helping students apply digital diplomacy concepts in real-world scenarios. (2) Teacher Training Programme: Educators received targeted training to apply the newly developed digital diplomacy curriculum effectively.<< Results >>As project results these outputs are developed: A Digital Diplomacy Training Module with five courses, a MOOC, Syllabuses for the Digital Diplomacy Module and the MOOC, a Teacher Manual, a User Manual and a Monitoring Guideline. The five digital diplomacy courses within the Digital Diplomacy Module are: C1) Background, New Types and Features of Diplomacy; C2) Shaping the Future: Trending Technologies; C3) Innovation, Digitalization, and Digital Culture; C4) Digital Diplomacy Governance and Transformation of Institutions; C5) Common Future and Prospective Solutions via Digital Diplomacy. The DD-Tech project achieved numerous concrete outputs and results that significantly advanced the integration of digital diplomacy education and fostered collaboration across various domains. One of the primary accomplishments was the successful adoption of cutting-edge technologies into higher education, leading to the development of interactive and innovative course content capable of continuous updates to reflect advancements in technology and applications.
