<< Background >>The DigComp4VET project responded to the urgent need to modernise the European VET ecosystem by addressing digitalisation barriers, exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis. Many VET professionals lacked digital skills, institutions struggled with structural constraints and there was insufficient alignment between training provision and labour market demands. DigComp4VET targeted these gaps by operationalising the EU frameworks DigCompEdu and DigCompOrg, providing tailored solutions for upskilling VET curricula and educators, and supporting institutional readiness. The initiative also sought to promote equity by enabling access to high-quality digital training resources across diverse educational contexts - formal, informal, and non-formal - while strengthening the overall resilience of the VET system in Europe for digitalisation.<< Objectives >>The project aimed to foster digital transformation within the European VET system through targeted upskilling of VET professionals and institutional capacity building. By embedding the DigCompEdu and DigCompOrg frameworks, the project sought to enhance digital competences, promote innovative pedagogical practices and modernise training delivery in both formal and non-formal VET settings. It aimed to create a flexible, future-ready VET ecosystem, bridging the gap between training provision and labour market needs. Further, the project intended to increase awareness of EU frameworks among both practitioners and policymakers, align educational offerings with emerging societal and economic demands and establish a replicable model to support digital innovation in VET across Europe.<< Implementation >>The DigComp4VET project implemented a structured sequence of activities across 4 key technical work packages (WPs). WP2 conducted a comprehensive needs analysis at multilevel, identifying barriers, opportunities and good practices / case studies for VET digitalisation and mapping them against the DigCompEdu and DigCompOrg frameworks. Based on the WP2 results (training areas and needs), WP3 developed a multilingual curriculum, composed of seven training modules targeting essential digital skills for VET professionals, with learning outcomes aligned to EU standards and frameworks. WP4 piloted (T&V) the curriculum with 145 participants, overperforming the initial number (120) and gathering on-field feedback from trainers and learners, and launched the Digital Warehouse, an open-access and multilingual platform hosting resources, news and community section. 467 online accesses to training courses have been counted. Finally, WP5 consolidated the overall experience (findings and on-going feedback) through the consolidation of practical guidelines and policy recommendations, ensuring long-term scalability and exploitation of the project’s results. QA and dissemination activities fully covered the entire duration of the project.<< Results >>DigComp4VET delivered transformative results for the VET ecosystem and partners’ networks. It developed a transnational needs-assessment kit (reports + executive summary + matrix) and a multilingual training curriculum, aligned with DigCompEdu and DigCompOrg, addressing the digital skills gaps of VET professionals. The Digital Warehouse was established as an open-access platform providing training materials, interactive tools and assessment resources in five languages, ensuring inclusivity and transnationality. Over 600 participants piloted the curriculum during both T&V sessions and online access through the platform, validating its relevance and quality and providing tailored feedback. Policy recommendations and a mainstreaming strategy for VET ecosystem and practitioners were formulated to promote adoption, replication and scalability. These results empowered VET professionals, strengthened institutions’ digital resilience and enhanced the alignment of training systems with the official EU standards (policy perspective) and labour market (practical perspective).
