<< Background >>This Project was launched to address the critical need for assessing and supporting essential skills in the automotive sector, especially soft skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability. Rapid technological shifts created a skills gap, and these transversal competencies became essential for industry employees to thrive in the green and digital transition - as it was confirmed by the project reseach. The project identified and defined key competencies, developed tailored assessment methods, and used certification tools (micro-credentials) to ensure employees are equipped to meet evolving industry demands. Additionally, the project aimed to align vocational education and training (VET) with labour market needs in terms of key competence, fostering more significant innovation in educational practices to address these skills effectively. This comprehensive approach was designed to bridge immediate skills gaps and enhance the workforce's adaptability and resilience, contributing to sustainable growth in the sector.<< Objectives >>The project's main objective was to identify, assess, and support the development of key competences critical for the evolving automotive industry. We aimed to bridge the skills gap by focusing on competences such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability—skills essential for employees to thrive in a rapidly changing, technology-driven environment as it was apparent from the research which was done in the beginning in the project.By implementing the project, we sought to develop innovative methods and tools for assessing and certifying these competences, thus ensuring that vocational education and training (VET) programs are aligned with industry needs. Another key goal was to provide educators and industry professionals with robust tools for evaluating key competencies. Ultimately, we aimed to enhance the employability of workers in the sector and contribute to the broader goal of improving the quality and relevance of VET programs in Europe. << Implementation >>Research and Analysis: We studied the current state of the art of key competencies required. This involved an analysis of industry needs, supported by surveys and workshops with industry experts (done in automotive-mobility ecosystem).Development of Assessment Tools: We developed a methodology and guidelines for assessing and certifying key competencies based on the research. These tools were designed to be practical for institutions and industry stakeholders.Dissemination and Communication: We created a communication strategy that included building a project web, designing promotional materials, and actively sharing updates through social media and networks such as the Automotive Skills Alliance (ASA). We also organised national and international workshops to present findings and engage stakeholders. We also developed sustainability plan.Pilot assessment of key competencies: We held national and international workshops, including events in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Italy, and an online workshop with European stakeholders to validate our findings and gather further insights. We also gathered more information and piloted the developed methodology by assessing individuals and issuing the micro-credentials<< Results >>Key Competencies Framework: A comprehensive framework defined essential competency clusters such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability for the automotive industry in particular. This framework was based on extensive research and stakeholder input. The sustainability of the framework was developed as well.Assessment Tools and Methodologies: We developed practical tools and guidelines for assessing and certifying key competencies. These tools are designed for vocational education and training (VET) providers and industry stakeholders to ensure current/future workers' skills align with market demands. Recommendations from the assessments were also provided as case studies.Survey and Workshop Reports: Detailed reports summarising the findings from surveys conducted across partner countries and feedback gathered during national and international workshops. These reports provided valuable insights into industry needs and validated the relevance of the identified competencies.Dissemination Materials: A project website, promotional materials, and a series of online updates through social media channels and ASA’s network helped spread awareness of the project outcomes across Europe.
