"<< Background >>The partners in the consortium work with people on the margins of society on a daily basis. While the partner organisations CIAPE and EILD are active as contact points for people with a refugee background, the partners BSV Wassenberg, Club Life Long Learning and JVA Bremen work with (former) prisoners. The starting point for the development of the project was the realisation that joint sporting activities with people from the aforementioned target groups can make a significant contribution to the development and expansion of social skills such as teamwork, communication skills, commitment, self-motivation and the ability to take criticism - skills that are not only essential in everyday life, but also for entry into working and professional life. The aim of the project was therefore to prove that joint sport can also make a valuable contribution to preparing refugees and prisoners for integration into society and thus to the basic need for social security.<< Objectives >>The partners were keen not only to discuss their theoretical approach with project partners, but also to test it in practice in different European cultures and to determine the impact of sports camps, which were organised jointly with representatives of the project partners. Fortunately, in addition to Bremen Prison, Heinsberg Prison could be won as an associated partner even before the project began, so that sports camps with juvenile prisoners could be organised at two German locations. The multilingual brochure, which contains detailed information on all sports camps including feedback from the participants and is available to download from the project website at www.bsv-wassenberg.de/sportcamps, shows that the objective was achieved in full.<< Implementation >>In accordance with the project application, the partners held a partner meeting at each participating organisation. The kick-off meeting took place in Heinsberg. The partner BSV Wassenberg had organised its first sports camp together with three inmates and two prison officers before the kick-off meeting. In this way, BSV Wassenberg was able to clearly explain to the partners what it, as the initiator of the project, understands by ""sports camps"" and what activities are expected of the partners.Following each partner meeting, all partners organised their own sports camps together with individuals from the target groups and documented them in detail. BSV Wassenberg was also responsible for project management and the development of a simple website with the function of a project business card.At the end of the project, the partners agreed at the final meeting in Katerini to design a follow-up project that would thematically build on the experiences of the Sport Camps project and make the experiences accessible to a broader target group in a structured way.<< Results >>The partnership has produced the following outputs:1. realisation of 5 partner meetings in Heinsberg, Rome, Innsbruck, Bremen and Katerini with the primary aim of exchanging experiences about the sports camps carried out.2. conceptualisation, implementation and documentation of five sports camps at each partner location.3. detailed documentation of the sports camps in a multilingual brochure.4. creation of the project website www.bsv-wassenberg.de/sportcamps, which primarily serves to make the brochure permanently accessible to the general public."
