All-in: a bet for school engagement for everyone

<< Background >>We came together as a consortium at a TCA- seminar in Lahti in September 2019. This was because of a similar vision of collecting good practices related to school engagement European wide. We all share a very strong proactive sense of tackling the challenges to do with school engagement. Add to this our European Values and we have the concept of ‘Europe as School’, where emphasis is placed upon the notion of schools across the EU actively sharing and evaluating school engagement related good practices.The needs we have addressed during the project are as follows:- To make educational practices more engaging for everyone in order to prevent early school leaving.- To have some tools to improve educational practices to make them more engaging.- For educators across the EU to join in actively to discuss and share school engagement related practices. This also includes the active reflection on the practice and learning from each other.-To establish a theoretical framework for school engagement.-To engage other teachers and student teachers in school engagement, so they will be willing and able to tackle issues to do with early school leaving through school engagement.-To establish an active university collaboration.<< Objectives >>The main goal for the All-in Ed project is making teachers more aware of school engagement and providing them with some tools to make their practices more engaging in order to prevent early school leaving. Bearing these goals in mind, the objectives of our project are as follows:1. Identifying pre-existing practices that foster school engagement.2. Share and analyse the collected engaging practices linked to an agreed theoretical framework related to school engagement.3. Spread the engaging practices, which are backed by the collected evidence of impacts among local educational communities, providing teachers with new ideas and tools.4. Make recommendations and provide tools based on the conclusions of the developed process, in order to improve and promote new actions.Through all these objectives, we plan to increase the level of student engagement in their learning process while improving the quality of students’ success, as a way to promote the long term reduction in early school leaving rates.<< Implementation >>Following the All-in Ed agreed work plan, we developed several actions related to different stages:1. Preparation- Creating communication and dissemination tools and materials- 1st Online International Webinar: sharing local good practices aimed at improving motivation and school engagement in each participating organisation.- Creating local project groups to start sharing and spreading the project locally- 1st TRANSNATIONAL PROJECT MEETING - Proposal of indicators and tools for collecting evidence of best practices2. Implementation- Collecting local engaging practices using the common template- Analysis and assessment of engaging practices, using the created tools- Completion and sharing of the collection of engaging practices with collected evidence3. Dissemination- Creating a guideline for inclusive actions to promote motivation and engagement to prevent early school leaving (1st draft)- Common and specific communication and training materials - Website contents- Training activities in each school and local area.- Coordination International meeting (during the 31 INEPS congress, which was organised as part of the All in Ed project and hence also served as a Multiplier Event)- Evaluation process- Final dissemination seminar - Inservice training and dissemination events locally and regionally, using the All-in Ed Guideline and common training materials-The project results will additionally be disseminated at the upcoming national school engagement 'JOPO' seminar in April 2024 in Laukaa, Finland. Increased EU values.- eTwinning assistance to an aspiring Erasmus+ project from Germany (through the INEPS network)- Introducing the JOPO learning program for ‘Improve implementation of policies to address school dropout - Phase 2 Online exchange on the Finnish JOPO initiative, 8 September 2023-Keuruu JOPO organising in collaboration with the Finnish National Agency and Regional State Administrative Agency a national School Engagement Seminar in April 2024, where the All In Ed project is followed up (https://eventilla.avi.fi/event/M0gMZ?fbclid=IwAR3dCiLRYLgSh8BqX7kvLmBj3HVNUZK1zzOuHrcy9RDrWc5VPIcgkzYQo48)-Encouraging new consortiums to apply for Erasmus funding through our example (dissemination events);Deriving from the Spanish expertise and guidance, the Portuguese partner AELN was able to apply for and be granted with the recognition of a certified Erasmus Institution; the Portuguese partner AE Lã e a Neve launched (in the school year 2023/24) a 4 year project to implement an inservice training programme and student mobility initiatives.-City of Keuruu now wanting to apply for Erasmus accreditation and include its High School into Erasmus exchanges. This project has been well received in the local community. Increased EU values.-Opportunity to participate in new projects from contacts in INEPS congress (Finland and Spain with Berlin and París / Portugal with Germany and New York https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/etwinning/projects/active-teens-culture-and-environment)-A Member of Spanish team spent two weeks in a job shadowing stage in Finland, with Keuruu JOPO class and the University of Jyväskylä. This was also a rich learning experience for the JOPO students.-Community involvement in sharing and trialling school engagement related practices. Students also actively involved in thinking up factors contributing to increased school engagement (agency centeredness). Increased awareness of school engagement as well as strengthening of EU values.-Students actively involved in project related activities (transnational meetings, event organisation, good practices, advertising the project).-The formation of a strong link between the field and university (practice and theory).-The Portuguese Ministry of Education pointed out the All in Ed Project as an important tool for teachers' professional development.-Keuruu employment services applied and received a 3- year funding for an ESR- project. The idea for the project originated from the All In Ed Local Project Group meetings and entrepreneurship model run by Keuruu JOPO. The ESR- project is about engaging young adults in work life. -As a result of the actions of this project the Keuruu JOPO teacher was awarded the 'YES Agent of Middle-Finland' in 2023 by YES – Network of entrepreneurship educators.9.
