Sex Education as the best Weapon against Gender Violence

"<< Background >>Sex education is a legal requirement in almost all EU countries, but the content and quality vary. According to the report ""Policies for sex education in the EU"" of the European Parliament (2013), the Nordic countries and Benelux have sex education of the highest quality, while the states of eastern and southern Europe have poor or non-existent programs. Although sex education is integrated into the school curriculum in Greece, Spain and Croatia, it is rarely implemented. In addition, according to the School Education Gateway survey on sex education (2019), most teachers, parents and institutions support sex education in schools, however there is no support for educators to manage information and education is limited to human body and its development. We intend to respond to the PROPOSAL FOR A RESOLUTION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, on the situation of health and sexual and reproductive rights in the Union, within the framework of women's health (2019/2165 (INI), in the section that promotes comprehensive sexuality education for the benefit of young people, urging Member States to ensure access to comprehensive and scientifically correct sexuality education for all primary and secondary school students.<< Objectives >>We start from the idea that a good sexual education will prevent behaviors related to gender violence and for this we establish the following objectives: 1-Identify what content, what frequency and what quality have sexual education programs destined to young people (13-18). 2-Carry out a research which will show that effective sex education prevents sexist violence. 3-Develop a guide of good practices about health and affective-sexual rights of young people. 4-Develop an identification plan that includes all those macho attitudes related to sexist violence.5-Establish a prevention and action manual that explains what to do in case such attitudes appear. 6-Train formal and non-formal teaching professionals. 7-Establish a support and information program for families in the area of sexual education. 8-Involve young people in the realization, application and conclusion of materials. 9-Integrate young people in the promotion of the materials and activities created, with the aim of structuring them in three lines of action: identification, action and behavior change. 10-Instruct through interaction with young people in the relation between sex and technology.<< Implementation >>1-We are going to carry out a research work on the information on sexual education that our general impact group has (young people from 13 to 18 years old), at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of our project, with the aim of knowing the point of initial departure, the impact of our activities on the process of our project and the impact of our activities on the results of the project. 2-We will create an interactive platform, in which all the agents involved in our project will collaborate, from sexologists, team doctors, educators, families and young people that should serve as an example of good habits in the affective-sexual relationship that involve healthy behaviors in relationships sexual behavior among young people, with the aim of establishing behaviors that help prevent the appearance of sexist behaviors, which lead to future gender violence. 3-The young people who take part in our project will perform rap rhymes in which prevention and warning messages are launched, in the face of measures that can be considered as gender violence, related issues such as jealousy, possession, verbal violence, loss of self-esteem, etc. These rhymes will be organized and will result in a video clip, each rhyme will be accompanied by a dance, collecting all the rhymes and dances, for the development of a video clip that helps to raise awareness and disseminate the reality of our project. 4-We are going to create four teaching modules in which we can train and qualify educators in the fields of formal and non-formal teaching. Finally we are going to record a final product, in which we will diversify our tasks, in relation to using different work tools in order to summarize aspects related to the problems of our project, relaunching the leading role of young people, who are an active part and target group of our summary materials: 1-Video-comic 2-Community theater 3-We will establish an Escape Room, with questions and answers about sex education. 4-Creation of a podcast on sexual education in the family environment.<< Results >>Relation to Activity 1: Documentary and research work reports Relation to Activity 2: Creation of an interactive platform with 4 rooms: The platform will have four rooms: 1-A room in which young people when they click, will have to select whether they are facing a sexist attitude or not. 2-Another room in which young people can choose a topic associated with the affective-sexual relationship between young people and will refer them to academic information on the topic. 3- Another room where young people can click on news related to sexist attitudes. 4-A last room in which young people can click on song titles and it will show them a song paragraph, which they will identify with good or bad relationship habits.Relation to Activity 3: Elaboration of a video clip will be subtitled and you will have the option of the five languages, Spanish, Croatian, Polish, Greek and English. Relation to Activity 4: 4 modules will be developed and the topics are: 1) Education for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. 2) Education in acceptance and sexual diversity (LGBTIQ+). 3) Education for the treatment of sex in technology. 4) Affective-sexual education for the prevention of sexist violence . Relation to Activity 5: As a final product, we will record: 1-Video-comic (On the experience of gender violence). 2-Scenes from community theater (about sexting, for example). 3-The Escape Room game (Questions and answers about sexual information). 4-The podcast (The treatment of sex in families)."
