<< Background >>The TUNED project was launched to address a growing need among educators, particularly in higher education, to identify novel pedagogical strategies capable of meeting the needs of today’s educators and learners. We are aware that the increasing reliance on digital and blended learning makes educators face additional challenges to foster motivation, collaboration, and autonomy among students and other learners. Therefore, this project sought to equip educators with some practical tools and strategies to enhance the novel pedagogical approach known as Self-regulated Learning (SRL).<< Objectives >>The following are the key goals that the TUNED project aimed to achieve:1.Develop a robust pedagogical framework focused on SRL and collaborative learning in digital and blended environments.2.Create and launch a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) to train educators in implementing SRL strategies effectively, ensuring accessibility and support across multiple languages.3.Design an engaging serious game that simulates real-life teaching scenarios, enabling educators to practice and refine their skills in a safe, interactive environment.4.Provide clear, practical guidelines to help other higher education institutions and educators replicate and sustain the TUNED approach<< Implementation >>The project was carried out with a co-produced, and co-designed approach. This involved a series of collaborative activities, which aimed at:•Developing SRL guidelines and motivational strategies tailored to the needs of educators and learners.•Designing cooperative learning methodologies and tools for Open Educational Resources (OERs).•Testing and refining the MOOC and serious game through opportunities for co-design such as focus groups, multiplier events, and conferences.•Translating and disseminating the guidebook and other educational materials to reach the broadest possible audience.<< Results >>TUNED achieved significant results, including:1.A comprehensive guidebook and related short-books available in multiple languages, offering valuable SRL-based theoretical and practical tools as well as useful strategies to implement it.2.A fully functional MOOC – also available in multiple languages – hosted on EduOpen, which incorporates interactive elements like quizzes, self-reflection activities, and multimedia tools.3.A serious game – also available in multiple languages – with co-designed scenarios to help educators apply SRL concepts in practical contexts.4.Replicability guidelines to expand the adoption of TUNED tools and approach, ensuring long-term impact and sustainability.
