Innovative training material and methodology to support the development of marketable digital and green skills of NEET youth from rural areas to empower their employability

"<< Background >>We applied for this project recognizing the persistent challenge of youth unemployment across the European Union. Despite recent improvements, youth unemployment rates remain concerning, we started with data from February 2020 rated at 14.8%, highlighting the need for targeted interventions. Disparities among EU Member States are significant, with long-term unemployment affecting approximately 45% of young people. Our decision came from understanding the pivotal role of addressing youth unemployment for national and European agendas. The EU's commitment, as seen in initiatives like the Youth Guarantee Council, aims to ensure young people under 25 secure quality employment or access to education and training. Reports still indicate challenges in reaching marginalized youth due to factors like poverty, social exclusion, and remote areas. In response, we aimed to leverage opportunities in the Digital and Green economy sectors, which can create significant job opportunities, especially for rural youth. Through this project, we seek to contribute to strategies to address youth unemployment's multifaceted nature, promoting inclusive growth and prosperity across the EU and fostering a more resilient and equitable society. << Objectives >>Our primary goal in implementing the project was to increase attractiveness of vocational education and training (VET)across Europe. With DG-VET project, we aimed to develop innovative training materials, an innovative e-learning platform, and acceleration programs. Our focus was on empowering VET and trainers to support young and women NEETs residing in rural areas, equipping them with essential digital and green skills for employment in the agriculture 4.0 and Digital, Green economy sectors. Additionally, we sought to address critical challenges such as the digital divide, skills gap, and the lack of policy engagement in fostering youth-oriented VET programs.Our overarching objective was to foster inclusive economic growth, bridge socio-economic disparities, cultivate a skilled workforce prepared for the demands of the future economy, to drive sustainable development across Europe. We recognized the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and scalability of our initiatives. By fostering partnerships between VET institutions, industry players, policymakers, and civil society, we aimed to create an ecosystem to supports lifelong learning and continuous skill development<< Implementation >>Throughout the DG-VET project, we followed ERASMUS+ guidelines rigorously, employing innovative methodologies for effective execution. The coordination tool most used was the Management Handbook, guiding administrative, technical, and financial aspects along with daily communication systems.Transnational meetings were pivotal for communication and coordination, ensuring alignment with objectives. Data collection initiatives profiled NEETs' needs, leading to tailored programs for digital and green skills.We developed a gamified e-learning platform with an entire artificial intelligence included at disposal of beneficiaries as an open source, an E2E matchmaking tool, a forum community page and a toolbox for VET practitioners, fostering engagement and enhancing instructional practices. ""A more Digital & Green European VET Education"" campaigns disseminated achievements to diverse stakeholders, supported by dissemination materials and periodic newsletters.Quality assurance measures upheld project integrity, with evaluation activities informing interim and final reports. A Communication for sustainability and Exploitation Plan ensured long-term impact and transformation into a permanent ecosystem. In summary, our efforts spanned project management, result development, dissemination, quality assurance, and sustainability planning, contributing significantly to vocational education and training in Europe.<< Results >>The DG-VET project has yielded remarkable results, notably the creation of a detailed PR1-A3: STATE OF THE ART REPORT ON YOUNG/WOMEN NEETS’ EMPLOYABILITY WITHIN THE DIGITAL AND GREEN ECONOMY SECTORS. This report offers invaluable insights into the employment challenges faced by young and women NEETs in these sectors, guiding future interventions.Moreover, our development of an E2E matchmaking tool has enhanced the job market by seamlessly connecting job seekers, particularly young and women NEETs, with employers in the Digital and Green economy sectors. This tool not only enhances employability but also fosters economic growth by ensuring a skilled workforce meets industry demands.In addition, our forum page serves as a hub for collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders, facilitating the dissemination of best practices and fostering innovation. Complementing this, our vet toolbox provides VET organizations and trainers with essential resources and guidelines, enabling them to deliver effective training programs tailored to industry needs.Furthermore, our interactive training modules offer dynamic learning experiences, equipping learners with the skills required for success in digital and green professions. Lastly, the integration of artificial intelligence into apprenticeship programs provides personalized assistance, optimizing learning outcomes and preparing apprentices for the evolving job market."
