"<< Background >>The project ""Green Netiquette"" applied to address the critical need for promoting environmentally conscious digital behaviour among young people. In an increasingly digital world, the environmental footprint of online activities often goes unnoticed. There was a clear gap in education and awareness regarding sustainable practices in online communication and digital resource consumption. This project sought to equip youth with the knowledge and skills to adopt responsible netiquette, encompassing energy efficiency in digital habits, conscious data usage, and understanding the environmental impact of their online presence. The ultimate goal was to foster a generation of digitally literate and environmentally aware citizens, bridging this educational and behavioural gap.<< Objectives >>The main objective of the ""Green Netiquette"" project was to promote environmentally conscious netiquette as a transversal skill and competence, aligning with the ESCO framework. We aimed to raise awareness among young people about the environmental impacts of their digital activities and encourage them to adopt more sustainable online habits. Specific goals included increasing understanding of digital carbon footprints, promoting energy-efficient device usage, advocating for responsible data management, and fostering critical thinking regarding online content consumption from an environmental perspective. Ultimately, we sought to empower youth to make informed, eco-friendly choices in their daily digital lives and become advocates for sustainable digital practices within their communities.<< Implementation >>The project implemented comprehensive activities focused on creating educational resources and facilitating direct engagement. Key activities included the development of a ""Green Netiquette Booklet"" and a dedicated website for the project, serving as central hubs for information. We also produced a moderator training and a ""Guidelines for Moderators"" to prepare staff members from participating institutions and beyond to moderate debates, a crucial aspect of the project's activities. Furthermore, the project involved organizing debating challenges with young people from all participating countries, where the ""Guidelines"" were used. A social media campaign was also launched to disseminate key messages and engage a broader audience. Collaborative online platforms were utilized to share best practices. These diverse activities aim to educate, engage, and empower youth to adopt sustainable digital practices.<< Results >>The project yielded several concrete outputs and positive results. A ""Green Netiquette Booklet"" was developed, providing comprehensive guidelines and practical tips for environmentally conscious digital behaviour, and a ""Guidelines for moderators"" about the debate challenges. A guideline explains the main debate formats, their principles, and the roles of all those involved. The Booklet summary and the Guidelines are available in 4 languages. We successfully conducted a training session for moderators and staff and the debate challenges across partner countries. We reached many young participants who demonstrated increased awareness and improved understanding of green netiquette principles. The social media campaign generated substantial engagement, broadening the project's reach and fostering online discussions on sustainable digital practices. The final conference featured inspiring discussions on key sustainability topics, including civic engagement, digital responsibility, sustainable development, and youth-driven innovation. Experts from various fields presented actionable insights. These outputs are valuable resources for future educational initiatives and contribute to a more environmentally responsible digital citizenry."
