The EU Youth Dialogue (EU YD) in Germany is being implemented by the German National Working Group (NWG). As the National Youth Council of Germany, the Deutscher Bundesjugendring (DBJR) is applying for this project. DBJR intends to continue coordinating and leading the German National Working Group. The EU YD is the youth participation tool of the EU, playing a mayor part in sustainable and meaningful youth participation in Germany and Europe. The project entailed online and offline activities at all levels and focused on inclusion and sustainability. The project’s implementation will span the next two EU Council Presidencies, encompassing the 11th and 12th Cycles of the EU YD.The project implementation will follow the guidelines of the European Steering Groups of the respective Council Presidencies and implement them in the national context as effective youth participation processes, including dialogues with political decision-makers. Due to the diversity of the National Working Group, the EU YD will be docked to different processes and structures of youth work, youth welfare and (youth) policies in Germany. It will be linked to actions and projects of and with young people. The interests of young people shape the project’s content, giving the European Youth Goals a central role. Amid a growing shift to the political right, which is increasingly visible in Germany, it is crucial that young people feel acknowledged and are able to participate in decision-making to develop a strong understanding of democracy. Through the project’s implementation, these Youth Goals—particularly Goal 11—will be actively pursued, empowering young people to engage in democratic life, foster civic engagement, and access the resources needed to participate meaningfully in society.
