LRE-YOUTH-NET - LRE Youth Ambassadors Network

The LRE Youth Ambassadors Network project empowers young Europeans (15–30) to engage with World War II history in a hands-on, meaningful way. Instead of just learning about the past, participants actively shape how it is remembered: through youth-led events and direct collaboration with historians, museums, and NGOs. The project builds a dynamic network of Youth Ambassadors who organize and sustain remembrance activities in their communities and across Europe. The project features thematic online trainings that equip participants with historical context, digital storytelling techniques, and strategies to connect the past with contemporary issues. Young Ambassadors meet in person at key events, including the LRE Forum – Youth Editions in Prague and Bastogne, a study trip to Bavaria, and the LRE Youth Remembrance Summit. These immersive experiences provide opportunities to explore wartime heritage sites, engage with experts, and develop their own approaches to remembrance. The Youth Remembrance Summit serves as the project's highlight, where ambassadors reflect on their experiences, present their initiatives, and shape the future direction of the network. The project fosters innovative digital content creation, ensuring that history is explored and shared in ways that resonate with younger audiences. Participants produce podcasts, videos, and online campaigns, documenting their research and experiences while reaching broader audiences through social media and digital platforms. This content serves both as an educational tool and a call to action, encouraging wider engagement with historical remembrance. At its core, this initiative puts young people in the driver’s seat, ensuring that remembrance is an evolving dialogue that reflects contemporary challenges. The project fosters a new generation committed to keeping history relevant, challenging disinformation, and strengthening democratic values across Europe.
