METODIC - Strengthening the links between industry and academia for a sustainable textile sector that promotes circular economy in Sub-Sharan Africa

The METODIC project adopts a holistic and structured approach to enhance the capacity of Sub Saharan African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in 3 pillars: a) Knowledge in sustainability and circular economy through digitalisation b) Establish cooperation between academia and industry, c) Promote internationalisation.More specifically, the METODIC project aims at developing the green competences of the students of the textile engineering departments in HEIs in Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda by introducing the blended learning elective course of sustainable and circular business models in the textile sector. Understanding the importance to connect with the industry and sustain the relationship, the project aims at supporting the academics and staff of African HEIs through the creation of Collaboration Centres (initially operating in departments regarding the textile sector) as a service the universities will offer to the industry. Finally, to provide opportunities to everyone involved and build bridges for a truly internationalized education that is accessible by everyone, the project will explore the development of frameworks for joint courses among universities that facilitate also mobilities and transfer of knowledge for a globalized educational experience.This project will be implemented through a series of well-defined activities, spanning a duration of 3 years. It involves a consortium of 10 partners, comprising 2 universities from the European Union, 1 EU-based private company, and 7 universities from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda.
