<< Background >>We engaged in the CORPI project to address the deep-seated issues of racism and discrimination that persist in sports. Recognizing the critical need for more inclusive and equitable environments, we aimed to empower sports professionals with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to actively promote anti-racism, fairness, and diversity. Our involvement was driven by a commitment to creating a culture where every athlete, regardless of race or background, can not only participate but thrive and feel valued. The CORPI project offered a unique opportunity to influence change by fostering an environment that supports inclusion and equity at every level of sports. By contributing to this initiative, we sought to align with and advance our broader mission of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that these values are not just ideals but are actively practiced and sustained in the sports community. This project allowed us to make a tangible impact, driving meaningful change in a sector that influences millions globally. Through our engagement, we also aimed to build sustainable networks and practices that continue to address these issues long after the project concludes<< Objectives >>Our primary objective with the CORPI project was to effect a profound and enduring transformation in sports culture through the advancement of anti-racism and inclusivity education. We sought to equip trainers, coaches, and educators with essential knowledge and practical strategies to cultivate equitable environments within their respective sports domains. By delivering targeted training and resources, we aimed to empower these pivotal stakeholders to mentor young athletes effectively and spearhead positive changes within their sports communities. Our ultimate goal was to foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all participants, irrespective of their backgrounds. Through meticulously designed educational programs and resource development, we intended to embed these values into everyday practices, ensuring that the project's impact extends beyond immediate results. This approach aims to support a lasting cultural shift towards inclusivity, thereby contributing to a more equitable and supportive sports environment in the long term. We also aimed to generate a ripple effect by demonstrating successful anti-racism practices, inspiring other organizations to adopt similar strategies.<< Implementation >>We executed a series of focused activities designed to promote inclusivity and combat racism within sports. Central to our approach were specialized training sessions (LTTAs) that provided participants with a blend of theoretical insights and practical skills. These sessions covered anti-racist pedagogies, helping sports professionals incorporate principles of diversity and inclusion into their coaching and educational practices. We also examined and addressed barriers to participation for marginalized groups, exploring both structural obstacles, such as limited access to resources, and psychological challenges, like fear of discrimination. Participants engaged in developing and applying inclusive training methods, creating strategies to overcome these barriers and foster welcoming sports environments. Additionally, we facilitated role-playing exercises and scenario-based workshops to provide hands-on experience in addressing real-world issues related to racism. By enhancing their self-awareness and mentorship capabilities, we aimed to empower sports professionals to implement effective, long-term changes within their sporting communities. We aimed to equip sports professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to act as mentors<< Results >>The CORPI project yielded several concrete outputs and notable results. Among the key deliverables were a comprehensive suite of training materials tailored for both theoretical and practical application. These included detailed guides on anti-racist pedagogies and inclusive practices, along with a resource kit focused on self-care and community support. We developed and implemented two innovative training courses designed to enhance participants' abilities to address mental health challenges and promote inclusivity. These courses featured interactive modules, case studies, and role-playing exercises, facilitating deeper understanding and practical skill-building. The project's resources significantly raised awareness about mental health issues, particularly among youth, and equipped sports professionals with essential tools to create supportive sports environments. Additionally, the project bolstered participants' competencies, enabling them to effectively support disadvantaged youth and advocate for social inclusion within sports settings. The integration of these resources into daily practice has led to more inclusive and responsive sports environments, fostering a culture of support and understanding.
