<< Background >>The COVID-19 emergency has heightened the demands on educational institutions, with schools facing the imperative to harness digital technologies for the provision of accessible education to all. However, the transition to fully virtual lessons has exposed schools to difficulties and challenges. Notably, it has underscored the importance of addressing the equally significant issues of inclusive education and the effective management of diversity.Starting from this situation with a focus on Europe, the IDEAS project aims at helping teachers in dealing with new ways of educate which consist of improve and master new skills using digital tools. This will also narrow the generational gap between teachers and adult in general, and students and young generation. The project aimed to meet the following needs:- The requirement for secondary school teachers to gain a more profound insight into utilizing digital sources and technologies to enhance their teaching methodologies.- The necessity for secondary school students to access a more inclusive educational framework. By integrating and fully leveraging new technologies, this framework aims to engage and motivate students during distance learning.<< Objectives >>The initiative of the project aimed to equip teachers with technologically and pedagogically validated digital resources specifically tailored to address inclusion-related challenges.Additionally, the project sought to provide teachers with the skills and competencies to adeptly utilize digital teaching resources and methodologies. This involved furnishing secondary school teachers with user-friendly guidance tools (PR1) to adapt their teaching activities to harness the full potential of digital and ICT-based approaches. The initiative also included the provision of user-friendly teaching tools (PR2), which were meticulously selected, analyzed, and adapted to navigate the transition to digital education.Furthermore, the project emphasized offering teachers and educators an online training package (PR3) to acquire the skills necessary for the effective implementation of digital education practices. The aim was to integrate these practices seamlessly into teaching activities without compromising the participation and motivation of students who may be more vulnerable to underachievement and feelings of exclusion.<< Implementation >>To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, project partners carried out several activities:Involvement of Target GroupsThe engagement of project partners extended to the active participation of numerous schools in project development and activities. A total of 14 associated schools, over 60 teachers, and more than 400 students, among which almost 200 with fewer opportunities were actively involved. Furthermore, the project partners collaborated with over 20 associated partners, including schools, universities, and various educational institutions. These external entities played a crucial role in disseminating the IDEAS project across their respective networks. The inclusion of these external institutions significantly amplified the project's impact.Partners’ meetingsProject partners participated in 4 transnational meeting to discuss the main decisions to be made to reach the results prefixed (https://ideas.pixel-online.org/meeting.php). Multiplier EventsThe partner of the project organised an event at national level to present the project results, in particular the Intellectual Outputs, to teachers and experts in the educational field disseminating the IDEAS project to more than 200 end-users (https://ideas.pixel-online.org/conference.php). Monitoring and evaluationMonitoring of the project achievements was implemented through a detailed calendar of activities that also defined the indicators to assess the compliance of the activities and results with the expectations. An evaluation strategy involved representatives of the project partners and the target groups (i.e., school teachers and students). The evaluation strategy produced both qualitative and quantitative data, collected through questionnaires and testimonials, which were duly analyzed and served as the basis for the Transnational Evaluation Report (https://ideas.pixel-online.org/project-results.php).<< Results >>The concrete outputs produced are: 1: Methodological GuidelinesThe Methodological Guidelines promote inclusion of students at risk and underachieving via the application of digital technologies and virtual teaching and learning. The guidelines aim at increasing teachers and school leaders understanding of the dynamics that might lead underachieving students to lose motivation and involvement in school activities because of the different obstacles that might affect them. The Guidelines are divided in three Modules:- Module 1: Factual Background which highlights the main issues and difficulties teachers, and by consequence students, faced regarding online education during the pandemic- Module 2: Methodological Strategies dealing with the importance of developing digital skills to manage virtual lessons identifying correct educational approaches- Module 3: Lesson Plans which present 12 lesson plans developed to be implemented in class to face and overcome digital difficulties in educationAvailable for free at: https://ideas.pixel-online.org/methodological-guidelines.php 2: Repository of Teaching SourcesThe second Project Results consists of a database of quality, OER, digital based teaching sources carefully chosen and validated digital teaching sources have been selected, with their contents expertly adapted by specialists in the field of inclusive pedagogical approaches. This meticulous adaptation aims to ensure the effective use of these resources with students who face a higher risk of exclusion and underachievement in school due to various conditions such as social, economic, cultural, linguistic, or learning disabilities. . Accessible for free at: https://ideas.pixel-online.org/teaching.php 3: Online CourseThe Project Result makes available an online course designed for secondary school teachers, this chapter seeks to meet their requirements for acquiring essential knowledge, skills, and competences. The focus is on enabling teachers to effectively select, adapt, utilize, and ultimately create digital-based teaching resources. These resources are specifically crafted to possess a robust and applicable inclusive potential, particularly addressing the needs of underachieving students who are at risk of losing motivation and facing exclusion from both in-person and distance lessons.
