<< Background >>Through the European Caravan Network, we united 8 organizations from 6 countries to continue the participatory youth work initiated by Madam Fortuna between 2015–2021. There was a strong need to build a transnational network focused on social cohesion through artistic and creative processes. We aim to share expertise in participatory arts and foster a society where young people from diverse ethnic backgrounds meet and step outside their comfort zones. Our goal is to empower minority groups, including Roma and refugees, by providing opportunities for participation. We approach super-diversity proactively, encouraging youth to engage in creative processes, develop themselves, and share their lived experiences. We strive to build bridges between communities and individuals, especially the most vulnerable. Our method is sustainable and rooted in care.We use art as a tool to turn young people into active citizens—empowered to speak up and fully express themselves, but also to listen to one another, and engage in joint action.<< Objectives >>This project aims to:- Build a strong and lasting partnership between participating organizations, fostering a sustainable European network focused on participatory youth arts.- Promote meaningful dialogue between organizations across the Balkans, Western, Eastern, and Central Europe.- Exchange expertise in the field of participatory arts, especially involving minority groups such as Roma and refugees.- Develop a practical manual detailing participatory creative methodologies with and by young people.- Encourage a spirit of solidarity and connection between Roma and non-Roma communities.- Facilitate learning processes on organizational, creative, and reflective levels within a European framework.- Broaden perspectives of participants and youth workers, helping to combat prejudice against marginalized groups.- Empower minority groups by strengthening their position and visibility.- Contribute to the development of a shared European value base.<< Implementation >>WP1 – Project ManagementA communications guideline supports mutual monitoring among partners, led by Madam Fortuna. The strategic partner group, consisting of partner representatives and MF, ensures transparent cooperation, regular communication (email, Skype/Viber, phone), financial clarity, and mutual trust. The group reflects continuously on collaboration and meets five times during transnational meetings.WP2 – Transnational MeetingsThis WP aims to foster dialogue between European regions, communities, and stakeholders. Five meetings in four countries built a solid organizational structure based on transparency and consensus. This structure supports sustainable cooperation and practical implementation of project frameworks.WP3 – Educational ActivitiesFive youth activities took place in five countries (2022–2023), promoting creative expression, active citizenship, self-empowerment, and inclusion. Each event involved at least 30 young people, including Roma, refugees, and socially vulnerable youth. Live performances occurred in public spaces in Barcelona, Goleniow, Bitola, and Antwerp, reaching over 2000 p.WP4 – DisseminationFour key results: a manual, a documentary film, a PR team, and a webplatform.<< Results >>-Manual: This manual presents a research-based methodology developed through socio-artistic collaboration among experts from various European countries. It serves as a practical tool for youth work professionals and aims to inspire organizations working with minorities, diversity, or participation. It also targets young academic students aspiring to enter these fields. The manual encourages dialogue with local authorities on implementing participatory training programs in youth work. The publication: —approximately 60 p, beautifully designed and printed on sustainable paper—combines English texts and visuals to convey the full scope of the European-level process.A digital e-book version is also available for wider dissemination.-Documentary: A 63-minute documentary captures the work process and was screened in five different countries.-Communication & Promotion: A strong communication strategy was developed using various media platforms, including the website www.europeancaravan.eu and Instagram. An inclusive communication approach was co-created by all partner organizations and shaped by the input and involvement of young people.-Accumulation of expertise, network for all participants and organisations involved.
