"<< Background >>With the project ""Sasas Jekhvar Jekh - Once upon a time ... and now"", the partners from Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey want to contribute in the long run to preserve Romanes as relevant part of the cultural heritage of the Roma, to use it for concrete lifelong learning offers, particularly in the field of adult education, and to promote the inclusion of Roma.<< Objectives >>The concrete project aims were that- the imaginations, identity and memory of Roma communities as well as their habits, values and traditions find their expression- the literacy of Roma is promoted (reader and listener)- children of Roma find a better access to their mother tongue and that they learn them more easily- the desire for reading and literature is awakened- problem-solving approaches and values from the perspective of Roma communities are conveyed- cognitive, linguistic, and creative writing skills are improved- answers are found to questions about the origin, transmission, and preservation of Roma fairy tales and their significance for the cultural identity of Roma - an academic discourse is promoted regarding the historical development, classification, and standardisation of Romanes- the tradition of storytelling is revived- the majority society is familiarised with Roma fairy tales as an essential part of their culture, but also of European cultural heritage.- prejudices and stereotypes are reduced.<< Implementation >>The project was implemented in the following Work Packages:Work Package 1: Project ManagementWork Package 2: European Roma Fairy Tale BookWork Package 3: Monograph about Roma fairy talesWork Package 4: StorytellingWork Package 5: Dissemination and exploitation of Project Results<< Results >>The following results could be achieved in the 30 months project duration:1. Publication of a European Roma Fairy Tale Book with 32 Roma fairy tales in the country languages and the mostly spoken Romanes dialect, that are illustrated by a Roma artist2. Monograph about Roma fairy tales3. Curriculum and training material for the education of Storytellers4. 26 educated Storytellers 5. 70 trained multipliers 6. 81 implemented Storytelling Events in 28 different communes of the partner countries with support of famous Roma and with involvement of totally 5.016 participants 7. Dissemination and exploitation of the Project Results"
