<< Background >>We thought that it's important to increase environmental awareness in the future generations in particular due to the relation between the topic of the project and the course of study offered by our school. Environmental education is not always mentioned enough in school courses so it’s interesting and stimulating to explore how other schools deal with environmental topics. The added value of this project is related to the possibilities to cooperate with people of other countries in order to understand how they deal with environmental problems and their experiences about how to promote environmental consciousness. << Objectives >>The main goal was the development of environmental education and the production of materials to involve students through learning by doing. By implementing this project we wanted to develop responsible behaviors towards the environment and feed future generations with a conscious attitude. The aim was to raise individuals who reflect about the importance of environmental protection and increase the commitment to responsible behavior. We would like to raise awareness about environmental problems at the local level, to raise the awareness about recycling and understand how companies could be part of a positive impact on the environment. << Implementation >>The activities that we have done in this project were based on the “3R” of recycling: reduce, reuse, recycling. The activities implemented were workshops on waste recycling and also company visits to understand how waste is collected and recycled in different countries. Our students have learned how to reduce the impact on the environment by a learning-by-doing approach. They were involved in a challenge of sustainable shopping and so they learned how to choose what to buy in a supermarket. Then we explore the circular economy thanks to some case studies and the visit of a company that has chosen to produce a product from waste. Every activity has been reported on our social media and website because nowadays these are the best way to approach people and improve their awareness about a topic. << Results >>We created concrete output about this project. First of all we have reported every activity in our website and social media (Facebook, Instagram) and an online magazine made with Canva. The students have made a decalogue about zero waste to show how it’s possible to produce zero waste and a presentation about some case studies of companies that are sustainable and related to the circular economy. We think that young people could learn more through the principle of “think globally and act locally” so the case studies were companies of our area.
