Officer Development Program

<< Background >>The Federation of European Fire Officers (FEU) have observed a need for fire officers across Europe to be better equipped to face the future demands that arises due to political and technological changes. To solve this knowledge shortage The FEU have allied with The Greater Copenhagen Fire Department (HBR) And Lund University to implement an Officer Development Program (ODP) at Lund University in Sweden, where we will educate selected European fire officers in these problems. The programs base will be in the UN sustainability goals, with a strong focus on the effects of climate change and equality, inequalities and diversity. This program will run for years to come and keep on giving new participating fire officers a grater knowledge of these topics. << Objectives >>We wanted to create an Officer Development Program (ODP) that can educate fire officers on the UN sustainability goals, with a strong focus on the effects of climate change and equality, inequalities and diversity. We wanted to educate 18-20 fire officers, and get them ready to implement changes in their own organizations across Europe.<< Implementation >>We have successfully implemented the activities we had planned. Them being: Preparing the ODP, developing the ODP, hosting the ODP and finally evaluating the ODP.<< Results >>The concrete outputs and result of the project is the week long Officer Development Program in Lund in Sweden. Furthermore we have a video recording of the participants gains and thoughts about how they can implement the things they were taught, not only in their own fire services, but also across Europe, where the FEU will help as a driver on these projects. The video is available online at the FEU's website, where it will inspire other fire officers on how they can implement these changes to futureproof their own fire services and fire stations.
