<< Background >>The PREVIEW project was conceived to address the urgent need for higher education institutions to equip students with the skills and competences required for effectively perform in a remote work environment—an increasingly dominant working arrangement in the digital age. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the structural limitations of traditional internships and emphasized the necessity of flexible, inclusive, and resilient learning environments. This project aims to modernize academic practices by integrating innovative learning and teaching methodologies into remote internship models. By mapping internship systems across partner universities and collecting data from students, graduates, and employers, PREVIEW responds to the lack of structured frameworks for high-quality virtual internships. It also seeks to reduce geographical and socio-economic barriers, promoting equal opportunities for employability and professional growth also for students based in disadvantaged areas. Ultimately, PREVIEW supports the development of a student-centered, future-oriented curriculum tailored to the evolving demands of the labor market.<< Objectives >>The PREVIEW project aimed to achieve three key objectives. First, to design and test an innovative, student-centered model of remote internship that reflects the skills and expectations of both students and employers in a digital and globalized labor market. Second, to strengthen the resilience and employability of university students by equipping them with the new competences required for remote work—such as digital collaboration, autonomy, and adaptability. Third, to support higher education institutions in transitioning from traditional in-person internships to flexible, remote and inclusive formats through the development of a Remote Internship Blueprint (RIB), learning tools, and service design methodologies. By engaging universities, companies, and students in the co-design processes, the project aimed to foster innovation in academic programs and promote equal access to meaningful work-based learning experiences. Preview achieved all the deliverables as envisaged in the proposal.<< Implementation >>The PREVIEW project was structured around five key Work Packages (WPs). WP1 focused on overall project management and implementation, ensuring smooth coordination, financial monitoring, and quality assurance. WP2 aimed to build the competences needed for remote work in the academic community, through activities such as mapping existing internship practices, conducting surveys with students and graduates, running service design workshops, and developing the Remote Internship Blueprint (RIB). WP3 is developing the PREVIEW Learning and Teaching Hub, a digital platform that integrates the outcomes of WP2 thus supporting the effectiveness of remote internships also including dedicated online learning resources. WP4, launched in 2024, focuses on testing the innovative curriculum that incorporates e-learning and remote internships, tailored to the needs of students and employers. Finally, WP5 oversees communication, dissemination, and sustainability, through the development of the project’s brand identity, website, social media presence, events, and stakeholder engagement strategies.<< Results >>Over the 36 months of the project, the main results achieved were:21 deliverables 1 detailed mapping of internship processes across four partner universities.1 survey on expectations related to remote internships, which gathered over 440 responses from more than 20 countries.1 Remote Internship Blueprint (RIB) outlining all stages, touch points, and roles involved in remote internships.5 focus groups conducted to validate and improve the Blueprint, involving students, academic tutors, and representatives from the labor market.4 pilot remote internships activated to test and refine the model in real-world settings.n.136 requests for remote internships. n.99 completed remote internships.1 Learning & Teaching course on Service Design Methodology delivered, open to students, university staff, and external stakeholders.PREVIEW Learning Hub 5 MOOCs on soft skills developed and delivered in 5 languages.More than 100# participants successfully completed the MOOC pathways.1 Communication & Dissemination Kit 1 introductory project video.1 final video including interviews and testimonials from Interns. 30 videos and 2 podcasts uploaded on the PREVIEW YouTube channel.1 website 5 scientific papers 14 project meeting
