Differences Make Us Colourful

"<< Background >>At the beginning , we conducted a need analysis with our partners and concluded that we needed improvement on inclusion. In the survey we conducted: ‘Do we respect our differences and does everyone have the same educational conditions?’ the response rates were: 69.3% no (Italy), 76.1% no (Poland), 82.2% no (Turkey). We found that differences are not respected and that all individuals do not have equal opportunities . We took action to change for the better the attainment of equality of opportunities and respect for differences in education. We planned activities to meet the needs of disadvantaged students in our institutions (migrants through war, lower-upper intelligence group, broken families, etc.) to be educated under equal conditions and to feel belonging to the community they are in, to gain self-confidence, to accept their differences and to realise their strengths; to meet the needs of all students and teachers to respect differences. These needs: We planned activities with the themes of tolerance, empathy, respect and equality and made the results sustainable by supporting our children psychologically. Our activities: Art: painting exhibition, Culture: theatre, Multilingualism: common song Digital tools: game design.<< Objectives >>By implementing our project activities and getting positive results, we aimed to achieve the following:-Increase awareness of equal opportunities in education: Ensuring the full participation of disadvantaged students in educational processes.-Develop tolerance and empathy: Supporting students' social-emotional development by promoting respect for differences.-Increasing interaction through art and culture: To enable students to gain different perspectives through art exhibitions, theatre and multilingual joint singing activities.-Using digital tools consciously: To enable students to collaborate while developing their digital skills through game design activities. The concrete results are : •Digital games about respect•Art exhibition about empathy•Song about equality •Theater about toleranceThe empathy-themed painting exhibition allowed participants to express empathy in an artistic way. The exhibition encouraged emotional connection through paintings.A song on the topic of equality was produced and an accompanying animation was created. This music and animation was an important tool to bring the theme of equality to a wider audience. Digital games played an important role in the project. Interactive quizzes and games on respect, equality and tolerance were created on platforms such as Quizzizzizz, Kahoot and Wordwall.The theater play “Theater of Tolerance” aimed to provide the audience with different perspectives while dealing with the theme of tolerance. In addition, the theater performance “Differences Make Us Colorful” emphasized the power and importance of diversity. The performance “Empathy Drama” presented an emotional narrative to explore empathy in depth."
