Training and Opportunities for Growing Engagement in Teaching and Higher Education Research – a New Engine for Societal Solidarity

<< Objectives >>We want to increase high quality university-community collaboration on research, as a vehicle for innovation in teaching and learning, and increased civic participation. We want to build a culture and systems to support this collaboration, by upskilling university staff, students and CSO partners, developing effective models and pathways for sustainable long-term partnerships, supporting engaged research within the curriculum and as effective professional practice, to build societal solidarity.<< Implementation >>We will pilot systems and approaches to bring CSOs, academics and researchers together and support them to collaboratively design and run transdisciplinary research projects (some involving students). We will pilot innovative accredited short training programmes for stakeholders, and develop pathways and processes to institutionalise CSO-university partnerships. Through open educational resources and training for trainers, we will support replication of our innovations across the EU and beyond.<< Results >>We will pilot and produce a range of excellent open access resources - training manuals; reports on best practices; case studies - related to Community Engaged Research (CER). The outcomes will be: to increase CER across the EU; to upskill all stakeholders for collaboration; to connect teaching, research and curriculum innovation to civic engagement; to increase participation and employability; to empower universities and CSOs to collaborate as change agents, and address societal challenges.
