FORestore - Forest Restoration through VET Capacity Building

Forests are essential for the well-being of humans and our planet, providing habitat and livelihood for over half of the world's plants, animals, and millions of people. Deforestation is a widespread issue, impacting not only countries engaged in industrial activities requiring wood but also those utilising wood for domestic fuel. The scale of wood usage is not the primary concern; rather, it's essential for all stakeholders to collaboratively address the consequences without assigning blame to specific partners involved in the wood industry. Deforestation, contributing to climate change, involves deliberately clearing or thinning trees and forests. Partners from relevant VET, research and education fields and networks join in this project to achieve the following objectives and contribute to the reduction of deforestation phenomena: O1. Acquire, enhance and exchange knowledge, competencies, and resources to bolster capacity in delivering Vocational Education and Training (VET) addressing deforestation challenges. O2. Provide tailored modules for skills-matching in the forward-looking forest sector: Sustainable Forest Management, restoration techniques O3. Raise awareness about the importance of Sustainable Forest Management, conservation, and restoration through involving communities in sustainable forestry practices. The objectives are based on the collaborative transnational approach and knowledge exchange to build and improve capacities critical for addressing shared needs. The following results and activities are envisaged and organised into 4 Work Packages; FORestore management, FORestore capacity development including Transnational Research on Sustainable Forest Management; Restoration Techniques, development of the MOOC - Sustainable Forest Management; Restoration Techniques Learning Modules, and FORestore dissemination and raise-awareness campaign.
