<< Background >>We applied for this project to improve the quality and attractiveness of mathematics education through the STEAM approach, digital technologies, and various teaching methods, including both formal and non-formal learning. The project addresses the need to increase students’ interest and motivation in science and mathematics and helps them understand how these subjects can be applied in everyday life. It also responds to teachers’ need to develop their digital competences and adopt different technology-based teaching practices. The project aims to make mathematics learning more practical, creative, and engaging while developing students’ problem-solving, collaboration, and digital skills. The project promoted students’ interaction and collaboration with peers from partner schools to improve intercultural understanding, awareness and social skills, which included student joint activities and works created in international cooperation. The project also supported teachers’ exchange of experiences and joint creation of digital content, applying a STEAM approach and drawing inspiration from the achievements of selected ancient Greek mathematicians, making learning more engaging, didactic and meaningful for both students and teachers.<< Objectives >>The main objectives of the project are to improve the quality of mathematics learning through the implementation of STEAM methodology, the use of digital technology, the use of different teaching methods and tools, and the provision of new extracurricular knowledge through the development of skills such as entrepreneurship, problem solving and creativity.Specifically, the project aimed to:1) To popularize mathematics and natural sciences using the STEAM approach;2) To develop digital skills and compile and distribute learning materials;3) To promote international awareness, cooperation and communication in both digital and real environments, strengthening teamwork and intercultural understanding;4) To create a project website and a collection of learning materials publicly available..<< Implementation >>The project included both online and face-to-face meetings between partner schools.Online meetings allowed teachers and coordinators to discuss the progress of the project, share experiences and plan upcoming activities. Students participated in online meetings that included workshops and discussions.Onsite meetings at partner schools included workshops aimed at promoting mathematics, science and STEAM approaches among both teachers and students, focusing on the achievements of ancient Greek mathematicians. Teachers took part in collaborative workshops, they explored innovative teaching methodologies, improved their digital literacy, and jointly created as well as compiled thematic digital resources to support future educational activities. Students took part in group activities, discussions and hands-on activities, applying their knowledge in practical ways. They collaborated on creating new digital content, conducted experiments and tested the learning materials developed during the project. The activities also included outside activities, visits to science centers and laboratories, providing to connect mathematics and science with practical applications.Students and teachers shared their knowledge in school and communities.<< Results >>The teachers acquired various pedagogical and digital teaching skills through international cooperation. The major one was that the students explored the lives and contributions of ancient mathematicians and their achievements. They then learned how to apply the knowledge of their theorems and discoveries in everyday life, by participating in hands-on workshops. Ideas and approaches from partner schools were applied in the development of teaching materials. The prepared step by step guides for the workshop activities, games, posters,, quizzes, presentations, interactive games. All the digital materials were added to the GeoGebra e-book environment. These digital materials and various teaching tools were implemented in the classroom. Project website and eTwinning project was created.Mathematics and science were promoted through STEAM activities and collaborative projects, which increased students’ interest, engagement, and problem-solving skills. Students also developed digital competencies, creativity, and collaboration skills by working with new materials and participating in joint activities.Collaboration with partner schools was strengthened, leading to the exchange of best practices and very effective cooperation.
