Collaborative net against cyber bullying

CONTEXT With the increase of the children’s use of technology and social media, bullying has become increasingly widespread online. It has taken a new form, more complex and more difficult to identify, because it is sometimes concealed by the bullies under false pretexts and impersonation. One of the major concerns of researches into this phenomenon is that the consequences of bullying are increasingly severe. The project is aimed at both students and their parents – on the one hand we want to make students responsible users of the internet and social media, to decrease the incidence of cyber bullying and on the other hand to help parents with guidance in order to monitor and supervise their children’s online activity and to identify signs of cyber bullying in the behaviour of their children.OBJECTIVESTo decrease the incidence of cyber bullying by at least 50% in 2 years.-To raise the awareness of at least 80% of the target group related to all forms of bullying at the end of the 2 project years.-To improve parents’ capacity to monitor their children’s online activity by producing one guide for them and running 4 workshops (C2-C4).-To create an online platform for the reporting of cyber bullying incidents, this will be used by all the schools starting in the 2022-2023 academic year (C5).-To increase students’ intercultural awareness and communication skills.-To develop students’ creativity and critical thinking.-To develop the European dimension of our schools through international cooperation .PARTICIPANTSThe target group – 170 students aged 10-14 in each school. Participants in exchanges – 120 students (24 students from each country) – attend regular classes, topic-related workshops and lectures, cultural activities.Parents of TG students – will take part in workshops addressed to them during the exchanges and also after the exchanges, as each school will implement similar workshops with its TG parents.ActivitiesC1 – Cyber-bullying across European schools - Case studies, statistics, and current situation in each school/country.C2 – How do I spend my time online? – Guidelines for mobile and Internet use – exchange.C3 – How do I know when I am being bullied? – Identification of cyber bullying forms and incidents.C4 – What are the consequences of cyber bullying for the bully and the victim? - Ethical and legal standards for online activities, psychological consequences. Initial and final analysis of cyber bullying in our schools (ES)b. Guide for online safety (addressed to students) (RO)c. Brochure entitled Causes and effects of cyber bullying (PL)d. Sets of activities on the topic of cyber bullying for use with students (All partners)IMPACTThe project is meant to contribute to the European dimension of our schools. We will improve the openness and flexibility of our teachers and our students. The school will gain an advantage in the local community, as it will become more appealing to future students .We will reduce the incidence of cyber bullying, will be more prepared to deal with the phenomenon, will make students able to identify such situations and how to act in circumstances like that. We will also enable parents to become more active in their children’s life, monitoring and guiding them, providing them with support. Thus we will create a fruitful collaboration school-parents-student.Our school will become a resource locally, as we will share our results with schools in our areas. We will gain a valuable project management capacity which will help us develop qualitative future Erasmus+ initiatives.
