foodsharing Akademie überschreitet Grenzen

"<< Background >>Food waste is a global issue. In many European countries there are concepts to counter this problem. In Germany, foodsharing was founded in 2012 as an initiative that is considered a model in Europe and has since been adapted by several countries. This is also the case in Luxembourg, where foodsharing Luxembourg was founded in 2019. So far, international exchange between different foodsharing initiatives has hardly taken place. Especially in the field of education, the foodsharing academy in Germany has gained valuable experience and working methods that now need to be disseminated. The aim is to motivate and enable foodsharing Luxembourg to become active in the field of education on food waste. << Objectives >>The aim of the project was to spread the educational work on food waste and its global impact to other countries in Europe. For this purpose, the cross-border cooperation of the foodsharing groups should be established and promoted and the respective networks should be expanded. In particular, multipliers were to be trained to support foodsharing Luxembourg in addressing the demand for educational offers in the field of food waste.<< Implementation >>Within the project period, three network meetings were implemented to exchange project members and prepare a multi-day seminar in June. The main activity was a three-day seminar entitled ""Luxembourg Foodsharing Days"". During these days, a workshop for pupils, a training for teachers, a snipping party with a guided tour of the Earth Ship and an exchange workshop between food savers took place. Through good project management, active members of both organisations were motivated to get involved in the project work and new networks and cooperations were created - e.g. with the project executing agency CELL of the Earthship project as well as with the national further education authority for teachers (IFEN).Furthermore, the ""method buffet"" developed by the foodsharing academy was revised and translated into English in order to make it accessible to the target group in Luxembourg. An external project evaluation was commissioned to learn from the results of this project for follow-up projects. In addition, a project documentation was prepared to record and consolidate the contents of the project. << Results >>In the course of the ""Luxembourg Foodsharing Days"", several participants were educated on the topic of food waste. 25 pupils attended the workshop as part of the sustainability week. Six teachers took part in the method workshop for teachers and received the elaborated version of the ""method buffet"" for their further educational work in their schools. During the snipping party and the exchange workshop for food savers, more interested people were acquired and motivated to continue their involvement in the project team. The ""method buffet"" published by the foodsharing academy, which was previously only available in German, was translated into English. A close cooperation has developed between the participants of both organisations. Wide-ranging cooperation and networks were created."
