<< Background >>The project was developed to enhance the capacity of young workers to raise environmental consciousness and promote sustainable lifestyles among young people. Innovative educational strategies are essential to address the pressing global issues of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. We have realised that traditional methods are not effectively engaging young people; thus, we decided to focus our attention on games and gamification as practical tools for promoting behaviour change. The project aimed to provide educators, trainers, youth workers and leaders with practical skills to develop educational games that inspire eco-advocacy and sustainable living. It also sought to improve the quality, innovation, and visibility of youth work, in line with the Erasmus+ priorities. Through environmental education and creativity, the project provided youth workers with tools and methods, enabling them to reach young people better and promote active citizenship and sustainability at both local and international levels.<< Objectives >>The project implementation focused on improving youth worker abilities to create innovative educational games which promote environmental awareness and sustainable behaviors for young people. The initiative used game-based learning and gamification methodologies to transform youth work approaches while actively involving young people in essential environmental discussions and actions. The project provided youth workers with simple deployable tools to teach sustainability through effective methods which addressed the urgent climate change challenge. The main objective focused on improving youth work quality and recognition through sectoral collaboration to develop new resources which support youth environmental protection participation. The project built a powerful network which united organisations and individuals who used games to create positive social and environmental transformation. Through these connections, the initiative worked to unite different groups in their fight against climate change while advancing a shared mission to develop interactive learning experiences that empower future environmental stewards<< Implementation >>The project began with an online kick-off meeting that established partner responsibilities and confirmed timelines and communication tools. The next step involved participant selection for the training course and the distribution of background materials about gamification and sustainability. The main event consisted of a 7-day international training program in Dobczyce Poland where 24 youth workers studied environmental education through game-based learning. The participants spent their time in sessions about gamification theory and design thinking and prototyping which resulted in their first game drafts. The training participants maintained their game concept development after the course by performing local testing and working together through online platforms. The Czech Republic hosted a transnational partners meeting to check progress while maintaining quality standards and directing the last phase of the project. The project concluded with each organization hosting a local multiplier event to showcase the educational games they developed to youth workers and educators and community stakeholders.<< Results >>The project resulted in four innovative educational games that promote sustainability through engaging, game-based learning. Each partner developed one prototype:Unveiled (CC4U, Netherlands) – a reflective storytelling game guiding players through symbolic inner realms to explore personal responsibility and connection to nature.CO₂poly (FMDE, Poland) – an eco-economic board game where players balance profit, reputation, and environmental impact.Alpacalypse (TEIS, Hungary) – a role-playing board game set in a dystopian future, encouraging reflection on sustainable behaviour and collective decision-making.EcoBluff (KURO, Czech Republic) – a dynamic bluff-based game sparking conversations on energy, recycling, and everyday ecological choices.Green Games set link: https://shorturl.at/j5GsJ All games were developed collaboratively, tested during the training, and adapted for local use.
