<< Background >>VET systems may represent an opportunity for engaging young learners in decentralized areas, supporting them to find educational opportunities and fostering their employability. Decentralized areas are faces peculiar problems and challenges like emigration of young people due to lack of opportunities, ageing, lack of infrastructure and services, and economic problems. Covid-19 has emphasized these problems but highlighted the potential of education and training to build resilience and foster sustainable and inclusive growth. The PHA project contributes to the building and reinforcement of resilient and future-proof VET systems in decentralized areas, increasing their attractiveness for young learners by introducing an innovative methodology based on the needs of small communities and fostering sustainable social innovation in those areas.Hard and soft skills associated with the PHA methodology is particularly suitable for young learners in decentralized areas: it refers to disciplines like planning, architecture, arts, design, anthropology, sustainable development, and social innovation and includes soft skills like creative thinking, empathy, collaboration and problem-solving.<< Objectives >>Post-Human Architect aimed at developing, testing and disseminating an innovative methodology to be used by VET organisations and trainers in decentralized areas to teach sustainability and social innovation. By implementing this methodology we aimed at contributing to the building and reinforcement of resilient, future-proof and more attractive VET systems in decentralized areas, which can support young people to find educational opportunities and new job opportunities tailored to their needs. Concrete objectives: - Design and disseminate a framework of skills associated with the figure of post-human architect to be used by VET trainers to assess their skills or learners’ skills. The European Skills Agenda underlines the need for accompanying the green transition by including green skills in VET programmes and fostering soft skills. - Design, test and disseminate an educational game to practice the skills of PHA in an informal, interactive and attractive way. - Create a certification system, in line with national and European qualification frameworks, for recognition and certification of PHA skills.<< Implementation >>PROJECT MANAGEMENT CME as project coordinator was the lead partner of this activity, supported by all partners. In the preparation phase CME prepared, discussed with partners and approved the following documents: Project Handbook, Project Work Plan, Quality Management Plan, Impact Plan, Exploitation and Sustainability Plan, Stakeholder Matrix. These plans were reviewed and updated on a regular basis. All the formal procedures and documents for management were discussed during the kick-off meeting, in Iceland in March 2022, and preceded by a virtual KoM in January 2022. The partners met two other times (TM2 in Italy and TM3 in Denmark). The meetings were connected with critical steps in the production of project results to align with the development of the PHA methodology. The final project-end review meeting in Sweden was also of critical importance to reflect upon lessons learned and produce recommendations for post-project work. PROJECT RESULTS The project envisaged the production of 4 project results: the Post-Human Architect Skills Framework, to allow learners and trainers to assess their skills; the Post-Human Architect Training Methodology, to deliver tools and exercises for enhancing the skills identified in the framework; the Post-Human Architect educational games, to gamify the process of enhancing skills; the Post-Human Architect certification system, to provide learners with a certification that is nationally and internationally recognized. LEARNING, TEACHING, TRAINING ACTIVITIES The partnership organised two transnational learning, teaching and training activities. The first one, held in Italy, was addressed to VET trainers working in decentralized areas and aimed at validating the training tools and exercises produced in Project Result 2 and to kick-off the production of the game. The second one, held in Denmark, was addressed to young learners living in decentralized regions of the participating countries, and aimed at validating the demo of the educational games produced in Project Result 3. MULTIPLIER EVENTS The partners organised five multiplier events, aimed at sharing the results of the project with key local, national and European stakeholders previously identified. SHARING AND PROMOTION ACTIVITIES IC GEOSS is the lead partner of this activity and prepared, discussed with partners and approved the Dissemination Plan containing all the elements for managing the sharing and promotion activities.<< Results >>The main result of the project was the development of a comprehensive methodology to be used by VET organisations and trainers in decentralized areas to provide better training and enhance skills related to sustainability and social innovation of young learners, composed by 4 Project Results. PR1: POST-HUMAN ARCHITECT SKILLS FRAMEWORK Elaborated by EINURD as lead partner, it identifies through a participatory process with partners, stakeholders and trainers, the hard and soft skills associated with the Post-Human Architect figure. These skills were summarized in a reference framework that provides a description of each skill and an assessment grid to allow learners to assess the level of each skill. PR2: POST-HUMAN ARCHITECT TRAINING METHODOLOGY Elaborated by SINEGLOSSA as lead partner, it designs a training methodology and structure feasible for training the skills associated with Post-Human Architect. The methodology is divided into modules and for each module a set of training tools and exercises aimed at enhancing skills identified in PR1 were produced. The methodology was validated by a group of VET trainers in LTTA 1 and was released as a digital handbook (pdf). PR3: POST-HUMAN ARCHITECT EDUCATIONAL GAMES Elaborated by CME as lead partner, they were designed through a participatory process with partners and stakeholders. The educational games aim at practicing through gamification skills associated with Post-Human Architect. The game was validated by a group of young learners in LTTA 2 and is released as a pdf with printable cards and board. PR4: POST-HUMAN ARCHITECT CERTIFICATION SYSTEM Elaborated by IC GEOSS as lead partner, IC Geoss produced an online assessment tool for certifying the learning outcomes of learners who have completed the training with PHA framework. The certification will be released by accredited bodies (the partners and other VET organisations to be engaged in the project) and will allow learners to have their outcomes recognized by referring to national and European qualification frameworks. Most relevant outcomes of the project. FOR PARTICIPATING ORGANISATIONS - Implementation of an innovative methodology to address the needs of their target groups in decentralized areas. - Increased capacity of working for the benefit of local communities. - Reinforcement of an international partnership that connects organizations involved with the formal and non-formal VET and creative-cultural sector. FOR TRAINERS - Increased skills and tools for attracting young learners and improving the quality of their work. - Increased capacity to cope with today’s challenges, like sustainability, social inclusion and innovation. FOR YOUNG LEARNERS - Improved levels of skills for employability and up-skilling. - Increased capacity to cope with today’s challenges, like sustainability, social inclusion and innovation. - Recognition and certification of acquired skills to access further education and increase employability. - Better understanding of experiences and practices of peers in other decentralized regions in Europe.
