The development of the electronic healthcare system (EHS) in Ukraine, coupled with the widespread use of digital technologies in medicine, encourages medical professionals to embrace new digital solutions and tools. Currently, digital competence stands as a crucial component in the list of professional competencies of medical staff, directly impacting the quantity and quality of medical services. However, medical institutions have to deal with the problem of low digital competence among their employees (doctors, nurses), highlighting the urgent need for a swift adaptation to the digital transformation of the healthcare system. Due to the ongoing full-scale military invasion, the medical HEIs in Ukraine are seeking adaptive tools to sustain the educational process. Therefore, optimizing the digi-pedagogical competencies of the medical HEIs’ teachers is important. The UkraineDigiTrans supports Ukrainian medical universities in their digital transformation efforts by promoting innovative learner-centered educational methods with a focus on online learning. Its objectives include the enhancement of pedagogical mastery and an increase in the levels of professional competencies and educational resilience of the teaching staff. The project’s target group comprises teachers from four Ukrainian universities, with indirect beneficiaries including undergraduate and postgraduate students (min. 400). The project includes baseline study; teacher training packages; development of resources for piloting; curricular development; implementation of modified/new courses at PCUs; accreditation of new courses; and promotion of sustained cooperation networks & communities of practice. The project will scale up pedagogical practices by training teacher trainers in the partner HEIs (N=16), who will then disseminate the training to teachers at each PCU (N=80). In the long term, the UkraineDigiTrans project contributes to increasing the quality and digital transformation of HE in Ukraine.
