ICALL project aims to develop high-quality, flexible learning path for adults and evidence-based, scalable models for creating and sustaining inclusive local communities where persons with disabilities (PwD) can live full social life and access all services offered to the public. The project wants also raise the awareness & build the capacity of key stakeholders (including local authorities) equipping them with practical skills and competencies on how to build inclusive communities for PwD. The training materials will be designed to be used by adult learners belonging to local authorities, service providers, local stakeholders, and other learners in the field of inclusion and community development. The project also aims to raise awareness and build the capacity of key stakeholders by piloting the training and offering a Massive Open Online Course focused on the strategies, principles, and steps needed to organize communities in a way that they are inclusive, welcoming, and engage with PwD. Additionally, the project aims to build an informal community of practice and multi-stakeholder collaboration in the field of inclusive communities and deliver policy recommendations to build the commitment of local and national authorities to inclusive community-building efforts.The project aims to have as outputs a research on Inclusive Communities to monitor the state of play in EU countries, key challenges and promising practices, the training materials and a MOOC to guarantee visibility and effectiveness after the project’s end, and a set of Key Policy Recommendations for Local and National Authorities on how to build and sustain inclusive communities. The project will also directly involve PwD in co-creation and co-facilitation of the training, as well as for the key policy recommendations definition in order to allow to all the stakeholders an active role in drafting the future of inclusive local communities for PwD.
