Artificial Intelligence in STEM Learning: Supporting Secondary Schools and Students in their Adaptation to the AI-driven world

"<< Objectives >>The project’s overall objective is to enable the introduction and uptake of AI topics in STEM learning in secondary schools, while also supporting the adaptation of students to the AI-driven world.The specific objectives are to:-Provide learning/teaching resources that introduce the concepts of AI and raise awareness and debate on its societal and ethical implications-Support students’ first steps in using AI in practice-Build human resources capacity and support training on AI at schools.<< Implementation >>The project will develop learning content, online courses and lesson plans on the topics “Introduction to AI” and “First Steps in AI”, targeting learners with varying degrees of STEM proficiency. Practical examples, hands-on exercises, and Python/Java coding or Scratch will be utilized to make learning more effective. A first cohort of students and teachers will co-design of the content and will receive pilot training. The project will also organize final Student Forums “The Future with AI”.<< Results >>The key results are:-An online course “Introduction to AI"" and a crash course on the same topic.-A practice-based online course “First Steps in AI” for proficient STEM learners.-Capacity-building for teachers and students.The project seeks to introduce effective learning in AI at secondary schools in order to strengthen students’ readiness and motivation for further studies or a career in STEM. We also strive to raise awareness and promote societal debate on ethical and trust issues in AI."
