‘Data Science Education in STEAM for Civic Engagement and Social Justice from the Early Years’

<< Objectives >>DataScEd4CiEn aims at the following: (1) establish a set of key ideas for data science education of students aged 9-15; (2) equip STEAM teachers with the required knowledge, skills, and resources to bring data science into the classroom; (3) empower teachers to co-design and implement STEAM scenarios for promoting students’ civic engagement through data science; (4) Conduct research to evaluate the impact on teachers’ professional knowledge, and on students’ dispositions and learning.<< Implementation >>DataScEd4CiEn will create a scientific framework for data science competencies of students aged 9-15 and their teachers. The framework will guide the design and implementation of the DataScEd4CiEn professional development course, and of the STEAM scenarios. Implementation and evaluation of the course and the scenarios will be framed by Design-Based Research.
