<< Background >>The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a swift transition to distance teaching across Europe, revealing significant challenges in digital education readiness and well-being among students, particularly those in vulnerable positions. This project, AgileXR, was conceived to address these challenges by enhancing digital and learning skills and promoting social, supportive teaching methods. It targets explicitly improving the digital competencies of teachers and students, self-direction in learning, and student motivation and participation. The project partners bring a unique point of view by integrating agile methods and web/XR technologies to enable more engaging hybrid and distance learning models, boosting the use of XR spaces and enhancing well-being in online and hybrid learning environments. AgileXR aims to make these environments more interactive and supportive, leveraging agile learning methods and digital tools to foster better teamwork and collaboration, thus responding to the critical needs exposed by the pandemic and preparing for a future where hybrid and distance learning models become more prevalent.<< Objectives >>AgileXR aimed to bolster digital and social competencies within distance and hybrid learning environments. Our objectives were twofold: firstly, to elevate the digital proficiency of teachers and all students, enabling them to utilize web and XR technologies effectively. This enhancement was designed to foster improved teamwork and collaboration, making learning more engaging, interactive, and accessible. Secondly, we sought to ameliorate the well-being of students by integrating innovative digital tools and agile learning rituals that encourage social interaction and support, thus addressing issues of isolation and disengagement. Through targeted training and deploying these methods, we aimed to nurture key competencies such as communication, teamwork, creative thinking, and emotional expression, ultimately cultivating a more inclusive and supportive educational landscape.<< Implementation >>AgileXR implemented the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology to enhance distance and hybrid learning iteratively. Initially, we identified and selected innovative web and XR-based tools aimed at fostering teamwork and collaboration (Plan phase, PR1 and PR2). These tools were then piloted with teachers and students across upper secondary schools in Belgium, Finland, and Spain to evaluate their effectiveness in enhancing learning and well-being (Do phase, PR3). Feedback from these pilots was analyzed to assess the impact on teamwork, collaboration, and student well-being, informing further improvements to the digital tools and teaching methods (Check phase, PR4). Based on these insights, we refined our approach and conducted additional pilot tests, culminating in the development and dissemination of comprehensive guides and toolkits - all in digital formats - for educators to enhance teamwork and collaboration in online learning environments (Act phase). Results and best practices were shared through local, national and European educational networks, ensuring broad access to our findings and tools.<< Results >>AgileXR's results are primarily designed for European secondary school educators navigating the evolving terrain of distance, blended, and in-person learning. Whether you're a seasoned teacher looking to integrate innovative technologies and methodologies into your curriculum or a newcomer eager to explore agile teaching practices, these tools are tailored for you. Our audience includes classroom teachers and instructional designers, school administrators, and educational technology specialists seeking to enhance their practices and enrich their students' learning experiences. The versatility of these resources makes them particularly valuable for educators aiming to adapt to diverse learning environments — from traditional classrooms to fully remote settings. They are especially beneficial for those who wish to foster a more collaborative, engaging, and inclusive learning atmosphere, irrespective of the physical or digital context. By integrating key aspects of agile methodologies and cutting-edge technologies like web and XR, these resources offer a gateway to a more dynamic and effective educational practice, meeting the needs of today's digital-native students. All resources were delivered as digital resources, to ensure accessibility and sustainability. They are structured into four main parts, each corresponding to our Agile XR project results (PR) as framed in our original proposal. You will find 12 resources dedicated to specific, tangible deliverables we have developed within these parts. These include guides, reports, videos, blog posts, manuals, workshops, templates, and digital tools to enhance your teaching experience and efficacy in various learning environments. The concrete outputs and results achieved entails:A. Innovative online, distance, hybrid, and blended Learning solutionsThe project has delivered practical solutions and insights into creating effective and engaging educational experiences across various learning modalities. Recognizing the potential and limitations of current digital technologies, AgileXR has provided educators with tools and strategies to leverage these innovations for improved learning outcomes.B. Exploration of XR in educationAgileXR evaluated the status and potential of extended reality (XR) technologies, balancing the need for accessibility with their capacity to transform teaching and learning. The project's human-centered approach yielded a suite of resources designed to facilitate the integration of agile practices and digital technologies into education.C.
