"<< Background >>The SILENCE project, aimed at communities in Modena, Italy, and Ontinyent, Spain, addressed the critical issue of gender violence, focusing on the support, recovery, and empowerment of 20 young women aged 18-29 affected by violence and oppression. Motivated by the need for a holistic response to the traumas of abuse and gender-based violence, the project utilized creative and participative methods such as ""Traumatic Autobiographical Narrative Therapy"" and ""Autobiographical Dance-Theatre."" These innovative approaches to mental health treatment were designed to process trauma and promote healing. The initiative also concentrated on raising awareness about the experiences of these young women, enhancing social and familial support for their recovery, and striving to eliminate the stigma, prejudice, and stereotypes that fuel gender violence and discrimination. This project represented an effort to directly engage with affected individuals and the broader community, aiming to foster meaningful social change and empower survivors towards resilience and a return to everyday life.<< Objectives >>The SILENCE project focused on aiding young women from Italy and Spain, impacted by gender violence, to regain normalcy. It merged ""Traumatic Autobiographical Narrative Therapy"" with ""Autobiographical Dance-Theatre"" to foster ""repair, recovery, and reintegration."" Aiming to elevate awareness of abuse's covert impacts on ""autobiographical memory,"" it developed novel methods and materials for professionals assisting abuse victims. The initiative included ""Expressive Arts, Women's Sorority Circle, Circle of Empathy, Scenic Piece, and Guide for a Beautiful Life,"" all designed to address the psychological aftermath of trauma. The Guide and Scenic Piece, in particular, sought to transform societal views on gender violence, encouraging understanding and empathy. By intertwining personal, sisterhood, community, and societal elements, the project strived to empower victims, helping them see their experiences as manageable and meaningful, and promoting a life beyond ""fear, shame, and guilt.""<< Implementation >>The SILENCE project executed interconnected activities using art to support young abuse victims. It included dramatherapy, autobiographical theater, and dance therapy workshops in Modena and Ontinyent, offering a safe space for participants to share experiences and craft an autobiographical stage montage. These workshops allowed women to express life stories, converting trauma into performative material through creative exercises. Activities in Ontinyent paralleled those in Modena focusing on gender violence and empowerment through artistic expression for local young women. Two stage pieces were developed: ""¡Ahora Hablo Yo!"" in Italy , highlighting participants' stories to raise awareness and foster empathy, and ""¡Brunzits-Zumbidos!"" in Spain, reflecting on gender violence. Commemorative acts on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women shared these creations, promoting dialogue and awareness. The project fostered collaboration among organizations, mental health professionals, and the educational community, building a support network for young women's recovery and social reintegration<< Results >>The SILENCE project achieved impactful outcomes against gender violence, aiding young victims via artistic means.
