<< Background >>The project was initiated because we wanted to develop sustainability education in vocational training towards a more action-oriented and student-engaging approach. As a background phenomenon, it was observed in partner institutions that the study of sustainable development was perceived as boring and overly theoretical. Student motivation was low, and the true understanding of the goals of sustainability education was not achieved.Through the project, we tested various hands-on methods, which each partner country implemented during joint training weeks together with local working life actors. Students continuously evaluated the exercises and selected the most effective ones. In addition, the project monitored participants' increased knowledge of sustainable development by conducting a survey at the beginning and end of the project. The results of the study showed a clear improvement in the understanding of sustainability themes and in the perception of their importance. The project activities were based on the GreenComp framework, for which the partners received training at the beginning of the project. << Objectives >>In the project, we wanted to compare sustainability education between different countries. We also aimed to find new teaching methods that combine the GreenComp ideology with hands-on, practical approaches. Another goal was to increase participants’ commitment to the objectives of sustainable development. Furthermore, we sought to engage local companies in sustainability education and in the implementation of practical methods, including during company visits.<< Implementation >>The project began with a lecture for all participants on the GreenComp ideology, delivered by SYKLI Environmental College. After that, planning began for the program of three educational weeks. The first was held in Finland, the second in the Netherlands, and the final seminar took place in Spain. From all the project’s activities, the most effective exercises were selected and compiled into an e-book, which has been published in all participating countries. The e-book also includes videos of the exercises and comments from students. In addition, a survey was conducted among the participating students at the beginning and end of the project.<< Results >>The e-book produced in the project is a highly useful tool for all organizations and teachers involved in sustainability education. All individuals who participated in the project gained new knowledge about sustainable development, and their commitment to the goals of a sustainable future increased. This is evidenced by the results of the project's survey. The teachers involved in sustainability education learned new methods and compared sustainability teaching practices between countries. Local companies in the participating countries were also involved in the project by providing their own sustainability-themed learning sessions during company visits. These visits also provided valuable insights into the effectiveness of different teaching methods.
