<< Background >>We applied for this project because of its alignment with our values and goals. It addresses critical needs such as supporting disadvantaged womenin accessing leadership positions, promoting gender equality, and fostering cross-border cooperation. The project aims to empower women in the borderregion by developing their management and leadership skills, building confidence through art-based personal development, and reducing systemicbarriers to their career advancement. It also improves the capabilities of organisations such as Fractality to offer good trainings and to provide quality education and training forwomen with disadvantages and encourages the participants in theirdifferent positions themselves to realize offers that serve that aim.Furthermore, the project seeks to establish partnerships with Europeanorganizations to broaden its impact and promote institutional development inthe border region. Overall, the project's objectives resonate deeply with our commitment to empowering marginalized groups (especially women) and promoting inclusive and diverse leadership.<< Objectives >>To address the gender gap in leadership, focusing on disadvantaged women, this project aims to boost their empowerment and raise awareness aboutchallenges they face. Despite efforts, womens representation in top positionsremains below desired levels, hindering both gender equality and leadership effectiveness. By supporting women's professional development andenhancing their leadership skills, the project aims at empowering them to address gender inequalities in their different workplaces. At the same time, itseeks to gather support from stakeholders to combat gender disparities andpromote inclusivity. Additionally, it aims to develop recommendations to address trends perpetuating gender inequalities, fostering proactive efforts for a more inclusive environment conducive to female leadership in future.<< Implementation >>In Part 1, we focused on developing management and leadership skills from a gender perspective to empower women. Activities included sessions on gender inequality, women in power, leadership, people, diversity and change management, conflict resolution, negotiation, decision-making, problem solving, communication, networking, intercultural competence and self-care. Each day ended with reflection and social/cultural activities to strengthen bonding and understanding. In Part 2, the focus shifted to developing women's soft skills. This included cross-cultural learning, self-awareness, team building, personal values, applying for opportunities, inspiration, listening, observing nature and presenting themselves effectively, including through art, personal leadership and ongoing self-care (e.g. a workshop on soul voices). Social and cultural activities, such as a visit to an exhibition at a war museum on women in the resistance, complemented the learning sessionsIn Part 3, the project culminated in the presentation of the results through personal portfolios, paintings and photographs, exhibited in Emmerich am Rhein. Stakeholders and inhabitants of the region attended to engage with the work and discuss the impact of the workshops.<< Results >>40 Participants have been empowered to increase their self-confidence and thus improve their positions in their current professional environment but also improve their employability in the labor market in general. Thanks to that but also to their raised awareness to barriers and the possibilities to overcome them they can now actively contribute to the fight of existing gender inequalities in their respective fields of activity. In addition toindividual impact, the project has led to more awareness of the structural challenges women face in pursuing leadership positions. Through this heightened awareness, the project can also promote structural change. The lessons learned lead to a deeper understanding, so that changes are not temporary but permanent. The content and lessons of the workshop can be used as long-term reference or used by the women in their work environment to support other women in their change process so that changes causing a lasting change. The art exhibition challenged the women to step out of their comfort zone and express themselves creatively in front of others. This led to an enhanced sense of pride, self-confidence and helped overcoming fears, developing new skills and (leadership) qualities
