<< Background >>The 'A.W.AR.E.N.E.S.' project was conceived to address the complex challenges related to gender-based violence, be it economic, physical and/or psychological, that affects women. It intends to support volunteers and workers in the social and economic reintegration of victims, sharing with the entire partnership educational tools and strategies that can increase in women who have suffered violence the awareness of their own potential and the ability to become economically independent. Studies conducted at different levels confirm that violence against women is a problem that affects every country in the world. In fact, the 'World Report on Violence and Health'1 estimates that one in five women has experienced some form of violence in her lifetime and within the EU, according to data on crimes in the member states, violence is the leading cause of death of women in the 16 to 50 age group.Given the importance of this phenomenon, which also led, in September 2021, the European Parliament to pronounce on gender-based violence, wishing it to be punished unanimously, we believe that A.W.AR.E.N.E.S.S. was a relevant and necessary project to support women.<< Objectives >>The 'A.W.AR.E.N.E.S.' project aims to equip staff assisting women victims of violence with tools to foster their social and economic reintegration. The main objectives include the development of a toolkit with two teaching modules focusing on awareness of the vicissitudes experienced and the development of entrepreneurial skills. The project contributes to the improvement of practitioners' skills through transnational mobility and knowledge exchange. Furthermore, it aims to promote inclusion by training women victims of violence, supporting them in acquiring new knowledge and skills to overcome the economic and social disadvantage resulting from the violence they have suffered. The creation of a Moodle platform offers a further tool for continuous exchange on educational and methodological challenges. In summary, the project aims at enhancing the capacities of the staff and women involved to deal with the impacts of violence and to foster their success in the social and working context.<< Implementation >>The activities that were implemented to achieve the objectives are the following:-Project management and transnational training of women workers employed in anti-violence centres-Individuation within module 1 of methods and tools to support the woman in the process of acquiring greater self-awareness of herself (who she is and what she wants to be) and regaining the confidence lost due to the violence she has suffered. These methods consist of the use of fairy tales and filmmaking for 'therapeutic' purposes;-identification within module 2 of tools to foster the development of entrepreneurial skills and with them the acquisition of economic independence. -Delivery of the drafted training modules to approximately 24 women. Remodelling of the training modules and meeting of the women who benefited in their country from the two training modules developed during the project development -Dissemination of the results by organising local events and drafting a website.<< Results >>The results are:-a guidebook containing the two teaching modules collecting the training methodologies shared during the project development and improved following the transnational training of the anti-violence centre workers and some women;-project website, also containing the methodologies learnt during the project development and structured as an open source that can be updated even now that the project has ended; workers who developed a profound awareness of the issues addressed, applying the skills acquired from Modules 1 and 2 in their daily activities:Added to these results are those achieved on these targets:- partners for the skills acquired in the reception and empowerment of women through international comparison. The methodologies analysed and tested will remain permanently in the way of approaching and supporting victims of violence ;- women beneficiaries of the training provided, who thanks to the pathway implemented were able to acquire greater awareness of themselves and of what they would like to do in the short future to improve their social, economic and work situation.
