<< Background >>We applied for this project to address critical gaps in the fashion industry related to sustainability, transparency, and ethical practices. The fashion sector is notorious for its environmental impact and labor issues, necessitating a shift towards more responsible practices. Our needs assessment revealed a significant demand for specialized training and professional development to foster these changes. We aimed to create a new job profile, the Transparency Manager (TRA/MA), to oversee sustainable practices within the fashion value chain. Additionally, there was a need for comprehensive educational resources and training programs to equip industry professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge. The project sought to provide these resources through the development of a detailed curriculum, short courses, and practitioner handbooks. Our intentions included enhancing industry standards, promoting transparency, and supporting the transition to a circular economy. By engaging a wide range of stakeholders, including VET trainers, business consultants, and sustainability experts, we aimed to foster a culture of ethical practices and sustainable development in the fashion industry.<< Objectives >>By implementing the project, we aimed to achieve several key objectives:1. Create and define the role of the Transparency Manager (TRA/MA) to oversee and ensure sustainable and ethical practices within the fashion value chain.2. Provide detailed curricula, short courses, and handbooks to equip professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement transparency and sustainability in the fashion industry.3. Enhance industry standards by training a new generation of professionals who can drive ethical and sustainable practices in their organizations.4. Foster elements of circular economy within the fashion industry by educating stakeholders on sustainable sourcing, production, and waste management practices.5. Improve the competencies of VET trainers, business consultants, HR managers, and other professionals in the fashion industry, enabling them to deliver effective training and support for sustainable practices.6. Disseminate knowledge and raise awareness about the importance of transparency and sustainability in the fashion sector through seminars, conferences, and online platforms.<< Implementation >>Project Management and Quality Monitoring:We developed a comprehensive Project Management Plan, detailing rules, processes, and procedures for all partners. Regular communication was facilitated through three face-to-face and 23 virtual meetings, supported by online project management platforms for collaboration. Bilateral agreements were established to clarify responsibilities and financial arrangements. Quality monitoring was ensured through the creation of a Quality Assurance Manual, continuous monitoring, and four quality reports. Intellectual Outputs were peer-reviewed by internal and external organizations to maintain high standards.Dissemination and Multiplier Events:A Dissemination and Communication Strategy was developed to guide all communication efforts, including creating a visual identity, dissemination templates, and managing the project’s website and social media accounts. Dissemination logbooks were maintained, and a comprehensive dissemination report was produced. Local online and physical multiplier events and seminars were organized across partner countries (Greece, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, and Sweden) to promote transparency in the fashion industry, engaging stakeholders and raising awareness.R1: TRA/MA Curriculum & Profile:We created the TRA/MA curriculum and profile through extensive research and data gathering, including interviews with 50 industry experts. The development process involved analyzing existing ISO and competence frameworks, and selecting relevant competences for the TRA/MA profile. The curriculum was validated through expert assessments and focus groups, ensuring it met industry needs. Finalization included translating the curriculum into multiple languages for broader accessibility.R2: TRA/MA Short Courses Package / Pilot Program:The short courses package was developed to complement the TRA/MA curriculum, offering flexible and comprehensive training for industry professionals. An online platform was set up for course delivery, with partners developing learning materials based on the curriculum. The courses included both synchronous and asynchronous activities, ensuring flexibility for participants. Local pilot testing was conducted with more than 200 professionals, and feedback from these pilots was used to refine and finalize the courses. The materials were then translated and adapted for local contexts.R3: TRA/MA Handbook for Practitioners:Five comprehensive handbooks were produced to guide VET trainers, coaches, and HR managers in implementing the TRA/MA program. The handbooks covered understanding the fashion supply chain, transparency practices, communication strategies, and collaboration techniques. Content development involved brainstorming sessions with experts, followed by validation with program trainers. The final handbooks were translated into multiple languages and made available on the project and partners’ websites, ensuring wide accessibility and usability.<< Results >>The concrete intellectual outputs/results of the project are the following:R1: TRA/MA Curriculum & ProfileThe first concrete output of the project was the development of the TRA/MA (Transparency Manager) curriculum and job profile.
