Methods for Inspiring Non-formal Education on Decarbonisation

<< Objectives >>The aim is to create an awareness-raising program involving an innovative methodological development focusing on climate awareness education, highlighting the importance of coal-phase out, and preservation of mining cultural heritage of the region. The main function of the developed program is to ensure that the growing generation understands the need to act on climate change, wants to be an active part of the coal phase-out in their region and feels responsible for the future of the region.<< Implementation >>To achieve the project main objective, we will do the followings:1.Organize personal and online workshops (6 personal) to provide place for brainstorming and strengthen the international cooperations2.Development of complex non-formal educational material 3.Train the trainer session for teachers 4.Implementation of pilot program in the partner primary schools 5.Organize an international summer camp for pupils from primary schools << Results >>By the implementation of project activities, the climate awareness of pupils will increase, by learning about the mining traditions the rising generation of the region will be motivated to preserve these, which will enhance the development of local identity. Consequently, the younger generation could feel more connected to the region and prefer to imagine their future there, which could decrease the risk of migration from the region.
