<< Background >>This project arises from the need to know the current situation of rural tourism, since in recent years this type of tourism has increased notably, being nature tourism one of the most relevant in Europe. This is why this project was designed with the aim of finding out the profile of tourists in countries with a great potential in the rural tourism sector, such as the partner countries involved in this project.Various needs have been addressed, such as determining the type of tourist and type of potential tourism in rural environments where agricultural activities and extensive livestock farming predominate, and also the collection of examples of good practices in this regard. Another of the needs to be addressed was the analysis of the situation of digitalisation in the rural sector, what use is made of these digital tools and to whom they are directed.<< Objectives >>The main objective was to collect examples of good practices in European countries with a great potential in rural tourism, agroforestry activities and other natural values. With this premise, the aim was also to analyse the situation regarding digital tools in this sector for these countries, to exchange previous experiences between the partner countries, to determine the profile of the rural, ethnocultural and ecological tourist and which economic, social and cultural variables define this profile, to identify scenarios that would allow a design of proposals for their possible implementation, and finally to find out the potential for a KA2 with IO.Thanks to these objectives and the activities included in these objectives, it will be possible to identify the current scenarios, as well as the deficiencies, opportunities and challenges of rural tourism and, therefore, the digital tools of this sector in the countries participating in the project.<< Implementation >>The project activities have been set according to the objectives established in the initial phase of the project. As initial activities, the kick-off meeting took place, which has been linked to several follow-up meetings established by all partners. Two face-to-face workshops have also been developed, the first one took place in Transylvania (Romania) from 16 to 19 July 2023 and the second one in Huelva (Spain) on 4 and 5 March 2024. Thanks to these workshops, a large amount of information has been compiled, fulfilling the objectives set out in the project to produce a manual or guide of good practices that will serve as a reference for anyone who, professionally, educationally or personally, wants to expand their information or complement their training. In addition, the importance of the dissemination of the project in social networks and other media has been highlighted, and within the objectives set as in the dissemination events in the 4 member countries, as well as in the final conference that brought together different actors where the results and activities of the project were explained, and the importance of the use of digital tools in rural tourism.<< Results >>The results of the project have been developed thanks to the convening of two workshops, thanks to this exchange of experiences and the sharing of many characteristic aspects of the project, it was possible to extract several documents that have been used to feed the manual of good practices and as conclusions of the rest of the activities. The first workshop, held in 2023 in Romania, produced several conclusions: an analysis and identification of agroforestry activities that develop rural tourism initiatives; a SWOT analysis for the development of this activity; a potential profile analysis; a report that brings together training courses related to rural tourism and, as a final result, a report on new organizations with the capacity to organize events. In the second workshop held in 2024 in Spain, other conclusions were drawn, such as: identification of good practices, report of successful initiatives in tourism associated with agroforestry activities, sustainability report in rural tourism, report on training needs and the need for a KA2 with IO , and a network of developers of digital tools in rural tourism.
