<< Background >>The EQUALISER project responded to the pressing need for targeted, actionable strategies to promote gender equality by institutionalizing gender mainstreaming processes within enterprises. It integrated key elements such as assessment, strategic planning, comprehensive training, and evaluation to drive sustainable change. By engaging all organizational levels, EQUALISER fostered awareness, inclusivity, and the empowerment of women while actively challenging stereotypes. This project addressed persistent gender inequalities in workplaces, such as the gender pay gap, underrepresentation of women in leadership roles, and workplace harassment. Despite significant progress within the EU, disparities persisted, particularly in the private sector, where deeply rooted gender biases and stereotypes continued to shape organizational cultures and practices. The initiative sought to improve organizational cultures and ensure equal opportunities for all through the use of innovative digital tools, flexible training methods, and tailored resources designed to meet the demands of modern workplaces. Its approach was adaptable across various industries, aligning with EU values and the Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025.<< Objectives >>The project aimed to address gender inequalities in the workplace by fostering inclusive cultures and reducing stereotypes through a comprehensive gender mainstreaming process. It sought to raise awareness about organizational gaps and discriminatory practices, empower women, and encourage equitable treatment within workplaces. The project recognized that achieving gender equality required more than isolated actions; it required a systematic approach embedded into the fabric of organizational culture.Through careful assessment, targeted training, and strategic planning, EQUALISER worked to inspire companies to institutionalize gender equality as an ongoing, integral process. It emphasized the importance of equipping organizations with the tools and knowledge to identify and address gender disparities while fostering a shared commitment to inclusivity at all levels. The initiative engaged both management and employees in training programs designed to create secure, supportive work environments where individuals could thrive, regardless of gender or background.EQUALISER's objectives included providing innovative digital tools to support gender mainstreaming, developing tailored training courses suited to the unique needs.<< Implementation >>The EQUALISER project implemented a series of activities to foster gender equality in workplaces through a structured gender mainstreaming process. Key activities included mapping national ecosystems in the participating countries to identify gender gaps and needs, creating a comprehensive assessment tool for companies to evaluate their gender equality status, and developing tailored training courses for both management and employees. The project provided digital and blended learning opportunities, offering self-paced courses that addressed topics such as unconscious bias, inclusive language, and gender-sensitive organizational practices. Additionally, capacity-building workshops and interactive webinars were conducted to engage participants and reinforce the training outcomes. Pilot implementation of the gender mainstreaming process in selected companies allowed for testing and refining strategies, while podcasts and outreach events, including local and international conferences, were organized to raise awareness and disseminate results. These activities ensured broad engagement, effective knowledge transfer, and the sustainability of project outcomes.<< Results >>The project produced several tangible outputs and impactful results aimed at addressing workplace gender inequalities. A key result was the development of a digital assessment tool, enabling companies to evaluate their gender equality status and identify specific gaps across organizational levels. The project also created two high-quality training courses tailored for management and employees, addressing topics such as unconscious bias, inclusive practices, and gender-sensitive communication. These courses were designed as self-paced, flexible learning modules accessible online, ensuring adaptability to diverse workplace needs.A step-by-step gender mainstreaming process was tested in selected companies, encompassing assessment, planning, training, implementation, and evaluation stages. This process provided actionable strategies for embedding gender equality into organizational practices. The project also produced a comprehensive comparative research report analyzing gender disparities in workplaces across partner countries, contributing valuable insights to the field. In addition, a podcast series featuring 16 episodes on gender equality challenges and expert discussions was launched, complementing capacity-building.
