CodeBotting - learning through coding and robotics

In the contemporary world, the discussion of digital literacy and digital competences is a huge issue. Technology leads our lives every day in all aspects of life; we deal with coding everywhere around us. We have a generation that needs to know about coding and robotics. That is the reason why there is a need to focus on training small children in coding and robotics. Coding is the basics of understanding how different things work. Understanding coding helps to understand what daily life is all about. Nowadays it is important to develop problem solving skills. Teaching and learning has changed a lot; the teacher’s role has changed to more a role of a facilitator. Students learn through discovering, researching/carrying out research and most of all, making mistakes. When making mistakes, students learn and teachers are the guides who help them to understand. After graduating, it is difficult to find a job without any problem solving skills. Having good problem solving skills also helps to prevent early school leaving and students perform better in their studies.Students from each partner school suggested a real life situation or question that was important to them. To solve these situations, they began by finding different digital tools such as apps, robotics etc. Teachers guided them in this. At the project meetings, we presented the solutions to these situations, evaluated them with hosting school students and chose the best/most effective ones. We made tutorials of these methods, which we shared through a resource web-page at the end of the project.We also had some complementary activities for students so they could get to know the partner countries, e.g. sharing Christmas cards, introducing cuisine, sharing holiday experiences etc. Students shared their activities and experiences through a public blog.
