"<< Background >>Institutions/organizations in the cultural sector have enormous potential in shaping pro-environmental attitudes among recipients of cultural offerings, participants in cultural events. In the larger cities in Poland, consolidated activities aimed at green conversion in culture, supported by local governments, can already be seen. In Olsztyn and the Warmia and Mazury Region these were rather one-off initiatives. On the other hand, France, and particularly Brittany has for years been supporting, almost systemically, the cultural sector in implementing the idea of sustainable development (e.g. subsidizing the activities of an association whose mission is to provide training and advice to producers and festival organizers on sustainable development).Three cultural institutions of local government of the Warmia and Mazury Region, the Polish-French Centre in Olsztyn, the Provincial Public Library in Olsztyn and the Centre for Education and Cultural Initiatives in Olsztyn, in cooperation with the French organization RICH'ESS, have taken steps to bring them closer to a pro-ecological change. Despite different tasks, needs, and ways of functioning, they were united by a desire to care for the common good, which is the natural environment<< Objectives >>The aim of the project was to gain knowledge and experience, as well as exchange best practices in the following areas:- environmental policy within institutions/organizations,- Organization of ecologically responsible cultural events, - effective environmental education of adult audiences and participants in cultural events, as well as to transfer the idea of a ""green cultural institution"" to other cultural sector entities in Warmia and Mazury and the area of activity of the French partner.<< Implementation >>Within the project:- 43 international mobilities were carried out, including 5 study visits to Poland and France dedicated to the exchange of experiences and good practices applied by Polish and French cultural sector institutions/organizations in the field of green transformation,- a diagnostic visit was organized (green audit - 3-day creative workshop meetings of project partners in the spirit of the philosophy of collective intelligence) as well as a Polish-French workshop meeting open to other cultural institutions/organizations on good green practices, with the participation of Polish and French experts and promoters of the idea of green cultural institutions.<< Results >>As part of the project: - participants and attendees acquired knowledge, experience and new skills on environmental protection and sustainable development in culture,- awareness was raised among project participants and the local community about the importance of caring for the environment, the challenges of green transformation and the opportunities to involve the cultural sector in the process of ecological change,- a green audit report was prepared and published, including recommendations and a summary of joint reflections on pro-ecological activities.- a video report presenting guidelines and good green practices for the organization of cultural events was prepared and published,- training scenarios for librarians and animators (environmental education) were prepared and published,- a set of graphic and informational materials for use in cultural institutions/organizations to sensitize staff and visitors to environmental issues was prepared and published."
