"<< Background >>Electrical stimulation (ES) techniques are commonly used approaches in physiotherapy and rehabilitation(PTR) sciences. ES has been used for many years for neuromodulation, strengthening, pain and somatosensorial management in rehabilitation programs, although the mechanisms of action are still not well known. Although ES approaches are widely used in PTR, unfortunately there is no standardization even in definitions. Because of different denominations and treatment protocols (frequency, intensity, etc…) high quality evidences could not be gained still, while it was used frequently. However, in general, the application procedures are mainly not standardized but have great potential for use in clinical practice as a: aid to diagnosis, progress monitoring of patients, guidance for further guidance for further rehabilitation therapy depending on the capabilities affected, and allowing rehabilitation where the active motion is forbidden or could not be initiated, etc. The academic background of PT has a clear clinical focus, so the lack of knowledge in the field of ES, cause them to ignore an approach that could be very useful in their job performanceThis project aims to fill that gap of knowledge & increase awareness in ES approaches<< Objectives >>The project's main objective is to collect existing training contents in ES approaches for assessment and treatment, and adapt them to the specific rehabilitation requirements of PTs in European dimension, by this way development of job specific skills needed in the current and future will be supported with continuing vocational education and training by digital education for excellenceTo provide to the specialist inPTR with the necessary knowledge on ES approach, a greater awareness and understanding of protocols applied for functional rehabilitation, enhancing their professional skills is essentialThese aspects will contribute to the acquisition of skills and key knowledge in European professional training inPTR by supporting development of professional networks across EUIt could be a valuable step in the development and dissemination of life-long learning and vocational/professional training for all PTs in worldwide, especially in partner countries(TR,RO,LT)To develop training course/open access educational materials&guidebook(clinicalkey) that intends to fill that gap in knowledge in ES approaches of PTs,also do a regional transfer of knowledge throughout Europe, aiming to minimize the differences among EU(partner)countries<< Implementation >>The project is divided into 6 work packages, each with a clearly defined goal. The WP1-4 form the core of the project, are linked sequentially and correspond to the development and validation phases of the online course with open access educational materials. To create an innovative curriculum, open access educational materials/resources [presentations (PPT), videos (Video/YouTube)) and lecture guidebook (PDF) (clinical key)] in 3 languages of partners (Türkiye, Romania, Lithuania) and in English.CK4Stim is a 30 months project on electrical stimulation approaches in physiotherapy and rehabilitation between 7 partners from Türkiye and EU. The partners were Pamukkale University (PAU) (coordinator, Türkiye), University of Craiova (UCV, Romania), Başkent University (BU, Türkiye), Hatay Mustafa Kemal University (HMKU, Türkiye), Süleyman Demirel University (SDU, Türkiye), Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences (SVK, Lithuania), Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU, Türkiye) (from 22/02/2023) and Tartu Health Care College (THCC, Estonia) (between 28/02.2022 and 22/02/2023). The associated partners were Turkish Physiotherapy Association, Order of Physiotherapists in Romania, Lithuanian Physiotherapy Association, and Estonian Association of Physiotherapists. The CK4Stim project, which provides information about electrical stimulation approaches and is carried out awareness studies with new innovative open access educational materials, is the first project in this field. CK4Stim has 6 WPs, 3 Project Results (PRs), 17 Informative Meetings/Multiplier Events (IMs).CK4Stim has 6 work packages/phases categorized into 4 management levels for the purpose of to benefit from innovative practices among university students (especially MSc and PhD), academic staff, sectoral PTs in private or governmental clinics/centers/hospitals and the PT associations, and to increase the competencies of PTs and academics:* Management Level- Phase1: Management* Operation Level- Phase2 and Phase3: Curriculum preparation including needs analysis, survey applications, report preparation; creation of interactive open-access educational materials (PPT presentations and video presentations), lecture guidebook (PDF). And implementation of pilot studies (Phase 4) was also in this level.* Dissemination Level- Phase 5: Dissemination and sustainable implementation of the products* Monitoring and Control Level- Phase6: Quality Control and MonitoringEach phase has been characterized by tasks, milestones, and products. The project details the real training needs of clinicians in their professional performance in the workplace, with a remarked clinical profile, and knowledge and skills from academic and researcher experts in the development and implementation of these approaches, with an academic profile. Furthermore, the presence of professional associations guarantees the impact at the European level.• At the first step, an e-mail address (ck4stim.2022@gmail.com) and WhatsApp group was created to communicate, contact, and transfer files between partners. WhatsApp group was created to communicate as fast as possible.• Website host was created for 1+10 years. There is still 8 years to be used. (https://ck4stim.eu/), (http://ck4stim.eu/en), (http://ck4stim.eu/ro), (http://ck4stim.eu/lt), • A project website created (https://ck4stim.eu/) in English, Turkish, Romanian and Lithuanian. Some information about electrical stimulation and the CK4Stim project was given.• Social media addresses were created for dissemination (https://www.youtube.com/@CK4Stim), (https://www.instagram.com/ck4stim/), (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083360075987), (https://twitter.com/ck4s).• Google drive and Microsoft one-drive were created to upload/download all files.• CK4Stim project logo created.• Although the initial phase of the project consists of searching the user needs, is particularly relevant to ensure the correct implementation and adaptation of content to the particular professional groups in the countries of the consortium members (Türkiye, Romania, Lithuania, and Estonia). Turkish Physiotherapy Association, Order of Physiotherapists in Romania, Lithuanian Physiotherapy Association, and Estonian Association of Physiotherapists helped to apply a questionnaire, regarding their knowledge and application of ES techniques and parameters in specific pathologies, to PTs in their country. By this way frequently used ES approaches and their parameters were determined. Moreover, the participation of the PT associations guaranteed the suitability of the course to meet the training demand detected in this group at European level. Thus, innovative curricula created. At least 30 PTs from each country (in total 203 PTs) participated.• Course materials were prepared regarding the results of this questionnaire (innovative curricula PR1). Open access educational materials have 6 modules (Introduction, Module 1: Healthy and denervated muscles physiology, Module 2: Currents used for ES approaches, Module 3: ES for healthy muscles, Module 4: ES for de-innervated muscles, and Module 5:ES for re-innervated muscles). The training modules consist of working sessions, which require 2 to 3 hours for all educational materials in the chapter and approximately 20-30 min for each material (text, short presentation, and video presentation) to study. • The learning methodology focused on the student. It is based on structured learning, which implies an effort, and ability to analyze and maintain the student's interest. This type of learning is particularly suited to provide knowledge in the first place or to strengthen the knowledge acquired, enabling to control of the level of understanding of the knowledge that students achieve.• All chapters were prepared by partners and shared between them according to their experienced areas and preferences. • The guidebook chapters were prepared in English. All guidebook chapter texts (PDF) were prepared according to the same writing rules accepted by all partners. In total 39 chapters with 5 modules created (PR3). All guidebook chapters were uploaded to project website's ""LESSONS"" section.• As all guidebook chapters finished, the short presentations (PPT) were prepared by the same partner who prepared the chapter text (PR2). All short presentations were uploaded to project website's ""LESSONS"" section.• As all short presentations finished, video presentations (video) were prepared by the same partner who prepared the chapter text (PR2). • As all video presentations were prepared, the video files were uploaded to CK4Stim project's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@CK4Stim) and project website's ""LESSONS"" section.• All QUIZZES related to the chapter were uploaded to project website's ""LESSONS"" section. The participants had a quiz in a following section which becomes active after the learning session (minimum 15 minute) finished. The quiz consists 5 questions related to that chapter. Participant could see his/her grade in percentage, and according to her/his result could go back and study the chapter again. Just percentage given, no information as successful or unsuccessful was given. The percentage did not effetc to get a certificate from that chapter. Main aim of the ""quiz"" section was just to give information about her/himselves success in percentage, and motivate the participant to study if satisfactory, according to her/himself, success was not achieved .• All PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATES related to the chapter for open access educational materials were uploaded to project website's ""LESSONS"" section.. If one participant will review these open access materials for 15 minutes, they will have a certificate for each chapter.• All QUESTIONNAIRES related to the chapter were uploaded to project website's ""LESSONS"" section.• As English open access educational materials finished, all consortium members translated all online educational materials to their native languages (Turkish, Romanian, and Lithuanian).• As all activities to prepare and translate open access educational materials finished, all materials in national languages were uploaded to project website's ""LESSONS"" section in related national page.• A validation process took place through the pilot course with professional users and experts. On one hand, the adequacy of the telematic course developed against the capabilities and needs of potential users was checked. Secondly, it validated the usability of the online learning platform developed in the project website (https://ck4stim.eu/). • Pilot course applied to minimum 10 PTs from each country (in total 78). The implementation of the pilot course was done in the online learning platform (https://ck4stim.eu/).• The training course was available in 3 countries' respective languages (Turkish, Romanian, Lithuanian) and in English from beginning of the pilot course process. The complete course also translated to English for the exploitation and dissemination to all the countries in the rest of Europe. • All pilot course and finished open access educational materials were shared with national PT associations and social media links of CK4Stim project.
