Adapt New Climate: Youth Empowerment

<< Background >>The main reason for applying for this project was to enhance youth participation in climate change adaptation and increase awareness. Although young people are directly affected by climate change, they are often excluded from decision-making processes. This project aimed to equip them with knowledge, advocacy skills and the ability to develop sustainable solutions.Key needs addressed included lack of knowledge, low engagement in policymaking and limited leadership opportunities. Educational modules, a climate handbook and open resources improved access to essential information. Workshops and international activities strengthened youth engagement with policymakers and enhanced their role in decision-making.Another major challenge was the lack of international collaboration. The project brought together young people from Türkiye, Germany and France, encouraging them to develop joint solutions and contribute to global climate policies. As a result, it empowered young people to become informed and effective climate advocates.<< Objectives >>Through this project, we aimed to increase youth awareness of climate change adaptation, enhance their participation in policy processes and encourage the development of sustainable solutions. One of the key challenges was the lack of knowledge among young people and their exclusion from decision-making processes. To address this, we developed educational modules, open educational resources and a climate change handbook, ensuring better access to knowledge.Additionally, workshops and international events were organized to promote youth advocacy in environmental issues. By engaging with policymakers, young people contributed to the development of climate adaptation policies, strengthening their role in environmental decision-making.Another goal of the project was to foster international collaboration. Bringing together young people from Türkiye, Germany and France enabled them to exchange ideas and develop joint solutions, creating a global network for climate action. As a result, the project empowered young people to take leadership roles and make a lasting environmental impact.<< Implementation >>Throughout the project, various activities were implemented to raise youth awareness of climate change, increase their participation in policy processes and encourage sustainable solutions. Firstly, educational modules and a climate change handbook were developed to enhance access to knowledge. Open educational resources (OER) were created, ensuring widespread availability through digital platforms.A key component of the project was the learning, teaching and training activities. Workshops, seminars and field studies were conducted to educate young participants. Training programs were delivered both in-person and online, expanding accessibility. To promote youth engagement in climate policies, advocacy training sessions and meetings with policymakers were organized.Additionally, transnational project meetings were held to strengthen international collaboration. Partners from Türkiye, Germany and France worked together to assess project progress and coordinate activities. Finally, multiplier events were carried out to maximize the project’s impact. These events helped to disseminate project results, raise awareness among a broader audience and encourage youth participation in climate action.<< Results >>Project produced several concrete outputs and achieved significant results. To enhance youth knowledge on climate change, we developed a Climate Change Handbook, Training Modules and Open Educational Resources (OER). These materials were disseminated through digital platforms, reaching a broad audience and supporting youth in developing sustainable solutions.Within the training activities, 120 young participants received direct training, at least 70 individuals engaged in multiplier events, and digital content reached over 10,000 people. Workshops and seminars facilitated interactions between young people and policymakers, increasing youth participation in decision-making processes.International collaboration was strengthened, fostering a network among young people from Türkiye, Germany and France. The project contributed to enhancing youth advocacy skills, empowering them to take leadership roles in climate action and developing sustainable solutions. The long-term availability of project outputs ensures that its impact continues beyond the project duration.
