"<< Background >>The desire to apply for a small-scale partnership arose from the identification of a need at the local community level, both in Finta, Romania, and in Katerini, Greece, to contribute to increasing recycling and raising awareness of the importance of properly disposing of waste. In these localities, there is a considerable amount of waste dumped in the surrounding areas, which highlights the need for additional action, in addition to the procedures already initiated by the local public authorities.In addition, both Spark Youth Resource Center and Euro Education Services in Greece need to expand internationally, being relatively newly created organizations that want to develop their team by accumulating international collaboration experiences. Thus, this project brings value in both directions mentioned above, while also addressing European priorities related to sustainability and international engagement in a European context.<< Objectives >>By implementing this project we set out to achieve the following objectives:1. Increasing the level of competence among 40 adults from Finta and Katerini in the field of sustainable education and Green practices.2. Increasing the recycling rate in the local community by up to 10%, compared to the period before the implementation of the project.3. Increasing the level of competence among members of partner NGOs in the field of transnational partnerships on sustainable topics.<< Implementation >>Project launch event – ​​informed local communities in Romania and Greece about the existence of the project, its funder, purpose and desired outcomes.Sustainable education workshop for adults – for a minimum of 20 adults from the target group, taking place in both Romania and Greece.Mobility of 10 adults from Greece to Romania – interaction of participants from target groups in both countries, who shared their needs related to sustainability at the local level and discussed environmental practices in their communities in order to identify common solutions.Mobility of 10 adults from Finta to Greece – participants took part in awareness-raising activities and worked in international groups, including participating in a local greening campaign.Greening actions – Greening activities took place in Paralia Katerini, on the beach, and in the vicinity of the village of Finta Veche in Romania, where waste was collected. The purpose of these activities was to put into practice what was learned during the project.Project Closing Event – ​​Celebrating the results achieved and evaluating the activities carried out throughout the project<< Results >>A concrete result of the project is the brochure ""Local Recycling Guide"", which contains information on recycling methods, adapted to local regulations for waste selection and sorting. The brochure was produced together with the adults in the target group and distributed in the local community in Finta commune, together with the Greek group that visited them. For the community in Greece, a similar brochure was created, translated into Greek. Thus, the brochures were produced in Romanian and Greek.Also, a concrete result is represented by educational materials on carbon footprint, which adults in the target group were encouraged to calculate using a carbon footprint calculator provided by the Seneca Ecologos Association. Through this tool, adults can estimate the level of resource consumption, depending on their daily activities.Another less tangible but significant result is the greening actions, consisting of waste collection events organized both on the beach in Katerini and on the outskirts of the village of Finta Veche. These actions contributed to raising awareness about environmental protection and a sustainable lifestyle."
