<< Background >>We applied for this project because individuals with intellectual disabilities face serious challenges in accessing and sustaining employment after education. Despite family efforts, they often remain excluded from working life, limiting their independence and integration into society. Families lack professional support and resources, while institutions often have insufficient staff and services to provide proper vocational guidance or job placement. Employers also struggle to find suitable personnel and frequently lack awareness about the abilities of individuals with intellectual disabilities or the support systems available. Prejudices and discrimination in society further increase these barriers, making it difficult for them to participate fully in employment. This project addressed these needs by aiming to raise social awareness about employment, promote sustainable employment models, and increase the self-confidence of individuals with intellectual disabilities by making them productive members of the workforce. It also strengthened cooperation between families, employers, and institutions, while encouraging the sharing of best practices at the international level. << Objectives >>By implementing this project, we wanted to ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities could participate more fully in working life and become independent, productive members of society. Our goal was to raise awareness among employers and society, reduce prejudices, and support the fight against discrimination. We aimed to develop and share sustainable employment models by bringing together partner countries to exchange good practices and strengthen institutional capacity. We also sought to improve the professional, social, and communication skills of participants through international cooperation, helping them acquire new knowledge, skills, and experiences. With workplace visits, training activities, and the sharing of success stories, participants had the chance to observe practical solutions, compare approaches, and transfer positive examples to their own countries.Ultimately, the project aimed to boost the self-confidence of individuals with intellectual disabilities, improve collaboration between families, employers, and institutions, and contribute to the creation of more inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities at local and international levels.<< Implementation >>Across five three-day mobilities (Turkey, Portugal, Romania, Poland, Greece), we implemented a coherent set of learning–teaching–training activities to boost inclusive employment. We ran workshops on national and EU legal frameworks, rights, state roles; mapped each country’s current situation and data; and compared protected, cooperative, and personal employment models. Teams presented case studies and video success stories, and vocational schools shared training-to-work pathways (skills teaching, internships, job matching, placement, and follow-up). We organized employer and parent sessions on communication, reasonable accommodations, and legal rights. Study visits took participants to public employment agencies and inclusive workplaces to observe real tasks and adaptations. Each visit closed with evaluation meetings, reflection, and cross-country benchmarking of strengths and gaps. We facilitated intercultural collaboration, problem-solving and data-recording exercises, and built language, digital, and soft skills. << Results >>Result of the project was:E-book: The promotion of schools where mentally handicapped individuals received vocational training and employment opportunities in that country was explained.Audio book: With success stories of individuals with mental disabilities.Virtual museum: With photos of all activities carried out in the project.Website: All activities carried out in the project were shared.Animation: An animation raising awareness for employment was prepared. The eTwinning project was made and the visuals of the project activities were shared on the eTwinning platform.
