Building Financial Skills and Concepts for youth people

<< Background >>We applied for the project to address the pressing need for enhanced financial literacy among youth. Financial literacy empowers individuals to make informed decisions, manage finances effectively, and navigate financial systems. The project aimed to fill the gap in financial education for youth, recognizing that financial illiteracy can lead to long-term financial difficulties and hinder economic stability. Additionally, the project sought to align with OECD definitions of financial literacy, emphasizing the importance of knowledge, skills, rational behavior, and attitudes in making sound financial decisions. The project responded to the Eurostat definition of youth as individuals between 15 and 29 years old, acknowledging the critical role of financial literacy in their personal and economic development.<< Objectives >>The FiLY project aimed to financially literate youth people by providing a core competencies framework based on the gamification approach. Through the implementation of concrete actions and results, the project aimed not only to financially educate youth people but also to identify new and innovative training programs, identify and adjust the curriculum to the youth needs, and bring together a group of stakeholders capable of exploiting the project's outcome and supporting its sustainability.<< Implementation >>The project implemented the following activities: Management of the project; establishment of QAC, Focus Group analysis, creation of a Financial Capacity Playbook, organization of 3-day Workshops (one in each country), organization of two multiplier events (one in each country), and implementation of a Final Conference (online). The flow of the activities was structured in a way that resulted in the most optimum outcomes and resulted in the highest possible impact on the youth audience.<< Results >>The result was to provide the basic tools to youth to become self-sufficient and achieve financial stability. This included being able to save money, distinguish the difference between wants/needs, and manage their budget. Further to this was an increase in self-confidence to make financial decisions, an increase in negotiation power, and therefore a boost in their self-esteem to achieve goals. The training material could be adopted and used by other VET centers & educational providers. The main result of the project was FiLY Playbook that incorporated results produced from previous activities and the research made by partners. The FiLY playbook was tested in practice during the 3 seminars that took place in each of the participating countries. The results were further disseminated through a multiplier event that took place in each country and during the common online final conference.
